Join the Dear Neighbor Series on Wednesday, April 15 at 12:00 pm ET/11:00 am CT/10:00 am MT/9:00 am PT to hear from Cara McMahon, the executive director of St. Joseph Educational Ministries.
Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, SJEM empowers lay leaders to provide responsibility for the Catholic identity and the mission of their sponsored institutions. Learn more about SJEM and their work, as we envision new ways to collaborate across our charism into the future.

The CSSJ Federation Novitiate Community has two months remaining in the program where we will continue to explore the ways we reconcile and restore relationships, expand our consciousness to become more Christ like in the world and for our world. We look forward to sharing our closing ritual with all on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 11:00 am (EST). More info on the ritual will be shared soon.
Read more updates from the Federation Novitiate here. You will also find photos from our three sisters who made their initial profession of vows this year. On December 14, 2025, Jennifer Martin, CSJ professed her first vows with our sisters in Toronto; Elizabeth McGill professed her first
vows on February 8, 2026, with our sisters in Philadelphia; and Marit Steinsli, CSJ made her first vows on April 6, 2026 with the Chambéry sisters in Norway.

Season of Faithful Witness Continues
Spanning from Ash Wednesday through Corpus Christi, the Season of Faithful Witness offers a shared framework for prayer, discernment, and peaceful public witness rooted in the Gospel and Catholic Social Teaching. Mission Haiti Update
The U.S. Federation of Sisters of St. Joseph made a substantial 10-year commitment to the children of Haiti, from 2011-2021, through a partnership with Mission Haiti, Inc., of Minneapolis. The Empowerment of Girls Grant was the Federation vehicle to serve the educational needs of 10 Haitian girls. Read an update about of those young women, Anastacia. Read more here.

Catholic Climate Covenant Releases Earth Day Program
The 2026 Earth Day program aims to spur, through individual and community eco-conversion, faith filled action on creation care, especially on clean and renewable energy. The one-hour program includes prayers, readings, individual reflections, small group discussion questions, a short video, and a suggested advocacy activity. You can access it here.

Nonviolence and Civil Disobedience in the Context of Our Charism
Thursday, April 23, 2026 2PM EDT / 1PM CDT / 11AM PDT
Over 375 years ago, Fr. Jean Pierre Médaille, SJ and six French women began a new way of living Christianity. They lived in tumultuous times, in towns and a world decimated by the plague, war and violence, by poverty, chaos and meaninglessness. What became the Sisters of Saint Joseph began with a handful of people who desired to live the spiritual life actively and deeply. We are being invited to respond again in new ways. Join us for a panel on nonviolence and civil disobedience, which are practices that have a storied history in our tradition and offer a potential way forward now. Speakers include Sister Janet Lander, CSJ, Sister Deirdre Griffin, CSSJ, and Marty Roers. There will be time for Q&A during this one-hour program. Register here for the Zoom link. St. Joseph the Worker Virtual Vigil for Economic Justice
Friday, May 1, 2026 1PM EDT / 12noon CDT / 10AM PDT
This virtual vigil will be a prayerful, Gospel-centered affirmation of the dignity of every child of God and an invitation to personal and societal conversion as it relates to workers’ rights, labor and the full thriving of each person. CSSJ JPIC leaders and collaborators will share through the lens of our charism, the person of Saint Joseph, and Catholic Social Teaching. All are welcome to learn and pray with us. We offer this as part of the Season of Faithful Witness and in collaboration with The Catholic Labor Network.

Last month representatives from the Congregation of Saint Joseph and Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet join Federation staff and our Congregations of Saint Joseph NGO at the United Nations for a week of meetings, presentations and events to deepen our solidarity with women across the world.
