Message from Deni
April, 2016
Dear Friends,
It is a busy time of year for us as the County Council is reviewing the County Budget for FY 2017!

ONE DAY TRASH PICK UP
Most recently the County Council voted to move to one day trash pick up. The new trash contract will pick up County trash and recycling on the same day. Yard waste will be picked up on Mondays. The County will also provide a brand new 64-gallon trash toter for every home that utilizes County services. The revised contract will save the County $6 million a year. More information can be found below in the "County Corner" section.

Water Main Replacement in District 2
Beginning in the early Spring of 2016 through the late summer of 2018, the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC), will begin replacing approximately 2.73 miles of water main in the District 2 Community.   The affected streets will include:
Knollbrook Drive; Medwick Drive; 8th Avenue; 8th Place; 9th Avenue; Thurman Avenue; Cox Avenue; Fairoak Avenue; Riggs Road and Ray Road.  This project is necessary because the water mains are nearing the end of their useful life.  The water mains within the project area were originally installed in the 1940's. These mains will be replaced with new ductile iron pipe which will greatly reduce the  frequency  of water main breaks.

All work is expected to be conducted during weekdays from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Water services may be interrupted while the new main is being tied in with the existing main; however, this will be limited to a few hours at a time.  Residents will receive more detailed information prior to any service interruptions.

To receive an e-mail or text message alert when service disruptions occur in your area, you may register for WSSC's Customer Notification System (CSN) by clicking HERE.  Additionally, any questions about this project (BR5703A14) may be directed to 301-206-8523.
