Wings of Change, a cross-cultural educational initiative by the ONOR Foundation in partnership with organizations from the United States and Romania, takes place during Earth Week. This initiative exemplifies a strategic collaboration between the United States and Romania, connecting global leaders with local communities to advance education, economic mobility, and opportunity through meaningful engagement.
Five schools and two centers supporting children with disabilities bringing together over 350 students, educators, and industry leaders, all united by a bold mission: rethinking sustainability through hands-on workshops and collaborative learning.
From classrooms to communities, Wings of Change comes alive through the dedicated support of our partners across the private sector, government, and academia, united by a shared commitment to education and the inspiration of young minds. Each space transforms into a hub of imagination, where students explore, create, and redefine upcycling in action.
Across Bucharest, Bacau, Vaslui, Ramnicu Valcea, and Chitila, small ideas grow into meaningful impact. Students work with eco-friendly kits, including 3D “Sparkle” birds made from reusable plastic, seed pencils, eco-friendly notebooks, and artisan-crafted clay pots, turning sustainability into hands-on learning. The program also awards $6,000 in scholarships and shares powerful stories through the voices of students.
Distinguished collaborators from the United States and Romania include Dr. Mary Ellen Weber, NASA astronaut, Major General (Ret.) Sheryl Gordon, Alabama National Guard, Andreea Raducan, Olympic Gymnast, five-time World Champion, Gabriela Szabó, Olympic Champion Runner, Narcisa Lecusanu, Executive Member, International Handball Federation, Candy Hansen Gage, Global Trade Strategist and Educator, Diane Buffington, Philanthropist and Mentor, Adela Lazar, President of GreenPoint Management, Magdalena Caramilea, Head of Sustainability, Autonom Group and Magada Popescu, Executive Director, FAN Courier Foundation.
A roundtable in Vaslui, led by Rolanda Gott, M.D., Clinical Director, Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, UCLA, convened educators and therapists to discuss autism and inclusive support for children.
Driven by our trusted partners, Wings of Change continues to expand access to education and opportunity, supporting the next generation to shape a sustainable future.
Join the effort and discover how you can help inspire even more students.
