April Exhibitions: Jeff Smith, Wabash Valley Woodworkers Club, Voices of Homelessness
First Friday Reception: April 2, 2021, 6 to 8 pm
Sites Unseen: Memories in the Rearview Mirror by Jeff Smith
2020 was going to be one of the Best Years Ever. Jeff Smith and his family were planning to fly to Germany in July to meet their niece, nephew, and their six-year-old son, and then go as a group to the Greek Islands. Smith spent late 2019 looking at pictures, reading travel books, and watching videos of Greece. The artist also painted several pictures of memories he expected to come home with, but 2020 didn’t work out that way, of course. Smith's focus shifted along with the rest of his life, and paintings of empty cities, chaos, clownishness, and calm started appearing.

Voices of Homelessness
In its third year, this exhibit focuses on the “road out of homelessness.” Formerly homeless clients are participating in a three-part art class led by local artist Joanne Retherford. Voices of Homelessness gives people who are or who have been without a home the chance to share their experience in a creative and therapeutic way.
