Longer days. More sunshine. Warmer nights. It's springtime! A time of new beginnings, growth and awakening! Soon we will see the beginnings of those flowers poking through and the grass will be green once again. Outdoor activities will resume, windows will be opening and as we head into the warmer summer months, we hope you keep love in your hearts and hope on the horizon.

The Link Between Smell & Dementia:
Science of Smell Memory
It has been stated that dementia is associated with smell loss, so much so, that statistics show 9 out of 10 people living with Alzheimer's also experience a loss of smell. This loss, however, is only partial, leaving a small possibility of tapping into what's left to connect with memories and emotions of past experiences. In other words, scent can be used to enhance the quality of life for people living with Alzheimer’s. This was the driving force behind "scent guru" Ruth Sutliffe's scent awakening sessions......

Let's Get Personal: Steph Jagger on Dementia & Road Tripping
Steph knows all too well the journey of dementia as her mom is living with the diagnosis of late-stage dementia as well as others in her lineage. In her new inspirational memoir set to release this month, Everything Left to Remember, she shares the story of her mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s, as they embark on a road trip through national parks. During this trip, they revisit the memories and the mountains that made them who they are.

After spending several months in the cold, sunshine and warm weather are a welcome change! To help you enjoy the season, here are some ways to celebrate spring!

  • Get outside and enjoy nature! Walking is great exercise to get things moving :)
  • Add some bright colors to your decor
  • Plan a spring-themed family potluck lunch...don't forget the cookies!
  • On everyone's list......SPRING CLEANING!
  • Create an indoor garden (check out Aerogardens!)
