Springtime is usually a time known for renewal, and therefore celebration. So it seems perfectly suited that we are preparing to celebrate an anniversary, just as we are all ready for a fresh start.
When Circle Center started in 1976 in the basement of a church in the Fan, it was because a small group of neighbors recognized a need in our community and got together to find a solution. We've never wavered from the original goal set forth by that small group, to welcome our aging adults in a place designed for their specific needs with engaging programs and fellowship, and to offer support for their caregivers.
So as we prepare to celebrate our 45th Anniversary in May, we look back with appreciation on our humble beginnings and for everyone who saw the potential for our small center and have supported us as we have evolved to meet the needs of our community's aging population.
We are excited to share our virtual plans for celebrating our Anniversary with you and we sincerely hope you will join us, May 17th - 21st. We are also thrilled to honor some members of our staff during National Nurses Week, especially as we celebrate a beloved member of the Circle Center crew who rightfully earned her retirement after 20 years with us. We also highlight a new art program, Art on Wheels, that is providing splashes of color and joy for our participants.

Circle Center's 45th Anniversary:
Celebrating 45 Years of Connections
|
Though we knew we would have to adjust our plans for how to celebrate, we knew exactly what we wanted to celebrate. Connections. The importance of connecting was certainly felt by all of us this year, as we all felt the loss of those connections, of those moments with each other and as we struggled to connect with each other in new and creative ways.
We hope you will join us, to honor our history and legacy of connections, to support our goal of raising $45,000 to ensure our future, and to connect with us and each other!
Stay tuned for more information as we invite you to join us for a week of activities and fun as we safely and virtually celebrate. There will be an auction, virtual BINGO, an opportunity to share YOUR story of connection, and a few exciting surprises as we celebrate our 45 year legacy.

Our commitment to the overall health and wellness of our participants and families is one of the things that sets us apart and allows us to offer a full circle approach to care.
And while the medication management, daily health checks, and medical coordination make an enormous impact for our participants and their families, we really know its the commitment to overall care and wellness and the gentle care, support, and dedication of our nurses and CNA's that makes the difference on a daily basis.
Thank you to Casey, for your devotion to our participants and to our CNA's, Alicia and Ameia, for your support everyday!
Join us to celebrate and thank our Nursing staff, and all nurses who make a difference, everyday, but especially during National Nurses Week, May 6 - 12th!

Congratulations, Jeanette!

If you were ever lucky enough to happen upon our hallways sometime in the last 20 years, than you were surely greeted by a smile, a song, or even a dance, from our resident joy maker, Jeanette. Her spirit was contagious and she was as well known for her dance moves (especially her signature "walking the dog"), her singing (staff and participants usually only began their day once she broke out in her daily rendition of "Row Row Row Your Boat") and her zest for dress-up days and holidays.
While we were thrilled to celebrate Jeanette and her 20 year career with us, we already miss the unmistakable joy she brought every day. Her retirement is well earned and we look forward to welcoming her back as a visitor.
Thank you Jeanette, for your years of dedication to our participants and families, and for sharing your kindness, spirit, and joy with all of us.

CNA Gratitude Program from Leading Age Virginia
|
We appreciate the efforts of Leading Age Virginia and their partnership with The Emergency Design Collective, to find ways to honor the work of CNA's. We are thankful to be included in their CNA Gratitude pilot program, and even happier to pass on their efforts to our CNA's and all of our staff!
Our "Coffee for Caring" kit has been a hit and included stickers and all the fixings to express our gratitude!

Through the generosity of a recent grant from Julia and Tunnicliff Fox Charitable Foundation, we have implemented a new art program for our participants from Art on Wheels.
Art on Wheels mission is to make a significant impact in our communities by providing an empowering, creative learning environment in which participant artists learn constructive ways to cope with the variety of challenges they may be facing, both big and small. Their programs enhance participant’s lives by providing fun and challenging arts opportunities, with end results that offer deeper insight into individual lives and greater, more nuanced advocacy for the communities they serve.
Art on Wheels provides art kits for our participants, with all of the supplies, materials and instructions needed to complete engaging and creative art projects to stimulate and foster creativity, well-being, friendship and confidence. We have all enjoyed the joy these projects provide as well as the beautiful works of art to enjoy after!
