40th Annual Gala

Thanks to our incredibly supportive community, volunteers, and donors, Family House celebrated our 40th anniversary and partied like it was 1981! We ate, we danced, we laughed, we honored some of the great physicians of UCSF, and most importantly, we raised over one million dollars for Family House. Hear from Alexandra Morgan, Family House CEO, plus view videos and photos from the special event.

Family House San Francisco would like to extend a special thanks to poets Janae Johnson and Darius Simpson for their original piece, written to celebrate our 40th Anniversary and honoring Dr. Mort Cowan, Dr. Diana Farmer, Dr. Mignon Loh and Dr. Kate Matthay.
As we close on Child Life & Social Work Month, we want to say one more thank you to those who provide important support for our families as they go through the most difficult time of their lives. Without UCSF’s child life workers and Family House’s social worker, Elan Slavin, we would not be able to address the needs of the kids and families in our care. We recently hosted a luncheon to thank our social work and child life heroes at UCSF to celebrate the impact of their work.

Laptops meant for families of kids being treated at UCSF stolen in a Family House break-in
As you may have heard, Family House experienced a break-in last week when a thief stole laptops and cell phones that we provide families while staying with us. While we wish we were immune to the crime that happens in San Francisco, we want to extend a heartfelt thanks to the community members who immediately called, donated money and computers, and stood by our side.
Family House continues to be open during the COVID-19 health crisis. Though we are operating with a significantly smaller staff and have suspended nearly all volunteer activities, we are committed to maintaining our mission of providing compassionate care and dignity to families in need.
