Immunity Community Highlight of the Month:
National Infant Immunization Week: April 27th - May 4th
|
|
National Infant Immunization Week
(NIIW), celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2019, is an annual observance to highlight the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable diseases and to celebrate the achievements of immunization programs and their partners in promoting healthy communities. Since 1994, hundreds of communities across the United States have joined to celebrate the critical role vaccination plays in protecting our children, communities, and public health.
This year NIIW
will
be celebrated as part of
World Immunization Week (WIW)
, an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO). During WIW, all six WHO regions, including more than 180 Member States, territories, and areas, will simultaneously promote immunization, advance equity in the use of vaccines and universal access to vaccination services, and enable cooperation on cross-border immunization activities

2019 Childhood Immunization Schedules Are Digital!
|
|
The WA State Department of Health and WithinReach want to let you know that the 2019 Childhood Immunization Schedules are going digital. Unfortunately, the printed, laminated childhood immunization schedules will no longer be available in Washington. We know how valuable this resource was, but there are many other ways to get schedules quickly and conveniently. You can still keep it in your pocket with an app!
Please see this
flyer
for details on immunization schedule options.
Schedule options include:
- Use the IIS forecasting tool.
- Download the “CDC Vaccine Schedules” iPhone or Android app. Learn more about the app here.
- View on screen or print from CDC’s website.
- Purchase laminated schedules from a national source.

Why Aren't Information and Altruism Appeals Enough?
Targeting the Psychological Sources of Vaccine Beliefs
April 24, 12 PM - 1 PM CST
Join the Scenic Rivers AHEC on Wednesday, April 24th to learn more about why interventions to improve vaccine uptake via vaccine attitude change often fails, or even backfires. We will also explore why a focus on identifying and targeting the psychological sources of HPV vaccine beliefs — deliberations, affects, intuitions, and personal or social motives — could be used to create more effective interventions to improve both vaccine uptake and attitudes.
