They're Back...
Monthly Marketing Meetings
Hoorah - we are finally feeling safe enough to resume our in-person monthly Marketing Meetings, and the next one will be Wednesday, May 18, 11am at OceanCliff. The theme for this meeting will be What’s New throughout the destination. Bring all new staff, collateral, and get acquainted once again with the many industry partners we haven’t seen face-to-face in over two years.
Cruise Ship Schedule
Another welcomed sight this season is the return of the cruise ship industry. Please be sure to peruse the Cruise Ship Schedule on our website under Industry in the top nav bar. Welcome back the cruise ship visitors and show them the warm hospitality we are known for throughout our coastal communities.
Welcome Francesca
Join us in welcoming Francesca Donlan, our new Communications Director here at Discover Newport. Donlan will implement public relations and media strategies for Discover Newport and facilitate editorial coverage of the destination. She previously served as Communications Director for The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel in Florida and prior to that position, worked as a journalist for a variety of newspapers across the country. Her e-mail is [email protected] so please add her e-mail to your media lists, and if in the neighborhood stop by our offices to welcome her.
Calling on All Restaurants in Our Nine Coastal Communities
We’re thrilled to announce the 6th annual Rhode Island Quahog Week, which runs from May 15-21 this year. Quahog Week is a statewide celebration of our iconic Rhode Island clam. The initiative was created by the Rhode Island Seafood Marketing Collaborative, in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and the Rhode Island Shellfishermen’s Association. The week highlights the many restaurants, markets, fishermen and women, and food-based businesses committed to growing Rhode Island's local food economy, with special emphasis on quahogs.

All restaurants, help us celebrate this sustainable resource and its year-round availability by featuring a quahog dish on your menu. To participate simply fill out the restaurant participation entry form (it’s free), spread the word, and we will do the rest! Sign-up to participate here. Access the Quahog Week marketing toolkit here.
