Manager's Minute

I am not sure if it is just me, but this year the warm weather and boating season has seemed to go from non-existent to full swing in the blink of an eye. The past week we have averaged nearly 40 boats a day through the park for crappie and bass fishing.

Operations on the water have jumped into high gear for staff as well. Lots of debris has been removed, buoy assessments are done, and vegetation surveys have already been completed. McCullough dredging has removed over 4,000 cubic yards of material through private dredging operations and is bringing in their small barge soon to continue work (keep reading for those details).

Hydraulic dredging is also in full swing, having started operations more than one month sooner compared to last year. Last year alone, more than 17 acres of lake was reclaimed to safe boating depths. An amazing accomplishment and a very visible benefit of our fees and tax revenue at work. Upon completion of the current hydraulic dredging contract, 140,000+ yards of sediment will be removed from the lake in 2022 and 2023 alone. This is nearly equal to the amount of material removed by the LLCD over the past 16 years.

I wish you all the best and minimal vessel maintenance as you gear up for the 2023 season.

Cheers,

Adam Casey, LLCD District Manager

Dredging - Small Equipment Is Coming

McCullough Dredging has been out over the past few weeks dredging for Freeholders. We are aware that McCullough wasn't able to make it out to all shoreline with the larger barge, so they will be heading out soon with smaller equipment.

They will be out on the water very soon. Now is your chance for private work.

To inquire, please reach out directly to Shannon McCullough with McCullough Excavating...

On Monday April 8th 2024, Lake Lemon will experience an event 800 years in the making. The Moon will pass between the Sun and Earth, creating a darkened sky and ring of light surrounding the sun.

Lying directly in the path of totality, Lake Lemon will experience over 4 minutes of total eclipse, some of the longest in the country! To celebrate this, Riddle Point Park will host camping where you can witness the celestial event while being surrounded on three sides by water.

Watch as the moon’s shadow comes across the lake at 2,000 miles an hour. The sky will darken as waterfowl, songbirds, frogs, and insects begin chirping as if it were dusk. While festivities will last all day, the partial eclipse will begin at 1:49 pm and last until 4:22 pm, with totality lasting from 3:04 pm – 3:08 pm. Click here to see a map of eclipse totality.

Reservations will open soon for both RV and tent camping!

Lake Lemon is excited to offer this experience for you to witness such a rare event from both land and water in our unique natural setting. You will not want to miss this once in a lifetime experience! Stay tuned for more information, and for now, save the date!
