Let's Make Pysanky

This workshop will provide an opportunity for you to learn the art of Pysanky from a native Ukrainian, receive an abundance of information about the history, symbols meaning, and, of course, create your own beautiful Pysanka in the traditional wax-resist method using real chicken egg, "kistka", beeswax, candle, and color dyes. Watercolor Class

Adults and children 8+ (family friendly) are invited to a fun watercolor class run by artist Hongbing Tang, an elected member of American Artists Professional League (AAPL) and assistant teaching professor at the University of Rhode Island. She will guide students through step-by-step instructions on how to create an ocean scene watercolor painting, highlighting the lovely beach with dune grasses.

America and the Holocaust: Jim Crow Laws, Eugenics, and the March Toward Genocide in Nazi-Occupied Europe

A 75 minute presentation examining Nazi Germany and the United States during the 1930s, at a time when racism and eugenics were enshrined in law and practice. We will examine the national and historical contexts in which racism manifested in the two countries, and explore how the pseudoscience of eugenics as well as concerns about "racial purity" found its way into the laws of the United States and Nazi Germany. Spring Stitched Ornaments

Mending and Embroidery Sewing Class (Teens)

Join us in the Makerspace where we will have a guest teacher from the Stitchery in Portsmouth to come in and teach Teens how to mend damaged or torn clothes, in addition to teaching some hand embroidery.
