Gold Star Project Unveiled!

CONGRATULATIONS to Kahmara Landrum who was awarded the prestigious Gold Award from the Girls Scouts of America for her "Thinking Differently: An Inside Look on Dyslexia" project.


The video series features interviews with students and adults with dyslexia, parents, teachers, and specialists. Each interview sheds light on life with dyslexia and provides tips for others who may be struggling or starting their own journey.

Volunteers Needed

Needed: Adults with Reading Disorder.


Participants get a chance to learn how the brain works during reading and will receive a personalized reading treatment plan. The research is being conducted at the Georgia State/Georgia Tech Center for Advanced Brain Imaging. The principal investigator is Dr. C. Nikki Arrington; the co-investigators are Dr. Robin Morris, Dr. Rachael Harrington, and Dr. Lisa C. Krishnamurthy.

The goal of this project is to collaboratively develop an evidence-based word-reading and spelling intervention for middle school students with reading difficulties and disabilities that is practical and feasible for current middle school teachers.

Knowledge Acquisition Transformation Expansion (KATE) is a literacy supplement focusing on reading comprehension for 4th and 5th graders. WestEd is working with researchers at Texas A&M University to expand the use of their evidence-based reading comprehension program.

Promoting Adolescents’ Comprehension of Text (PACT), is a 6th – 9th grade social studies program that uses evidence-based social studies and literacy teaching strategies to improve students’ content knowledge, literacy, and academic language.
