**PLEASE PAY YOUR BAR DUES**

We would like to remind members that SHRBA is only able to function via your generous financial support in the form of bar dues payments and donations. The COVID pandemic and the use of virtual meetings has led to restructured costs but also let to less financial participation.

We encourage everyone who has not already to please make your contribution to come current on your bar dues. If you would like to pay electronically, we can provide you an e-invoice for your convenience. Simply send an email to [email protected] and let us know. We will then ensure you receive a link to the e-invoice, whereby you can remit your bar dues using a credit or debit card.

Chesapeake Circuit Court
Policy Updates from the Clerk's Office

Please find the Court's THIRD ORDER regarding Chesapeake Circuit Court Operations and Scheduling during COVID-19 Emergency, effective Monday, April 11, 2022, at this link. This Order highlights changes to current masking/building entry requirements, transportation of inmates to Court, access to judges' chambers, and civil motion scheduling procedures.

To the extent this order conflicts with or amends any previous order or policy of this Court, this Order controls and supersedes same; otherwise, all previous orders and policies remain in effect.

Reminder: Unless explicitly required by order/local rule/written procedure, all filings for Court action/review MUST be filed with the Clerk's office*. Please do not "cc" the Judges' Chambers by mail, fax, or email, as Chambers will no longer respond to "cc" correspondence that relates to filings due to continuous duplication errors. Filings should be sent in only ONE format. If sending by fax or e-mail, please state so on your cover letter. Include in your cover letter to the Clerk a request that they forward the request/document, etc. to the Court for review/consideration to ensure that the Clerk knows it requires action, not just filing.

*This procedure does not apply to the daily hand delivery (emailed/faxed orders are NOT permitted) of setting/continuance orders, discovery orders, etc. submitted to chambers by the Commonwealth Attorney's office; however, if the Commonwealth is requesting a capias or show cause be issued (basically anything in letter format), those requests should go directly to the Clerk first.

Chambers will no longer provide courtesy copies of entered criminal continuance orders or GDC court reporter appearance orders, as we no longer have adequate funding to continue this courtesy. Confirmation that your order was entered can be determined via the Clerk's Court Remote Access online imaging system. If you would like to subscribe to that service, please review the application process at https://www.cityofchesapeake.net/government/city-departments/courts-judicial-offices/circuit-court-clerk/records-research-copies.htm#court-records.
