Pace Yourselves....
by: Steve Matheny, Executive Director
Wow...fasten your seatbelts...Spring has (finally) arrived in Granville! This time of year the Village and surrounding community literally leap out of hibernation and proceed to roll-out some of the area's most iconic events and happenings. The challenge now is to tune in to all that is going on and somehow plan your life so that you don't miss out on something special. On top of that, there are a couple of unique activities this month in addition to the normal April offerings.   With that in mind I thought I would try to highlight some of them so you are in the know. Pace yourselves - there's a lot to do here!

April 14/15 - The 73rd Annual Daffodil Show and Sale is in full swing at the Bryn Du Mansion. Sponsored by the Granville Garden Club, this year's show will feature a historic look at the Bryn Du Mansion's journey through time in addition to hundreds of daffodils on display.

April 14/15 - Simultaneously, and in conjunction with the Daffodil Show, the American Daffodil Society is officially recognizing and dedicating the Jill Harms Griesse Historic Garden at the Robbins Hunter Museum at Noon on Saturday during the Museum's Garden Day festivities. In so doing this commemorative garden becomes one of only 25 such gardens in 15 states to achieve this distinction. Additional activities will occur during the weekend. The dedication ceremony is free and open to the public.

April 16 - 21 - The long anticipated Wildwood Playground Renovation Project gets officially underway. Construction begins and runs all week long in this remarkable community effort to ensure that generations to come will continue to have a safe and beautiful play space. The build is being organized and conducted by the Granville Recreation District and the Wildwood Playground Committee with substantial support and assistance from the Kiwanis Club of Granville. The Granville Community Foundation and many other generous benefactors have made this renovation possible. The project can still benefit from additional volunteer support. April 19 - From 4:00 to 7:00 pm the public is invited to attend the region's largest tradeshow and a "Taste of Licking County" sampling event at the Bryn Dun Mansion Fieldhouse. Entitled ShowBiz Fest, the Fieldhouse will be transformed into a Hollywood themed movie set allowing businesses to show off their star-studded costumes and favorite movies while enjoying refreshments and appetizers while walking on the red carpet. Sponsored by the Licking County Chamber of Commerce.

April 22 - Come enjoy Bravo! - A Celebration of Music & Dance presented by the Central Ohio Youth Ballet and the Newark-Granville Youth Symphony together at the historic Midland Theatre. Two shows are offered - at 2pm and 7pm - so you surely can make it to one of these performances.

April 22 - Come to the Homestead at Denison University between 4 - 7 pm to participate in HOME - An Earth Day Celebration. The public is welcome to visit and experience tours, children's activities, live music and a food truck, get sustainability info, and check out local vendors. Walking and biking are encouraged!

April 28 - Get your tickets now for the 4 th Annual "Taste of Granville" food, beer, and wine event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Granville. The Bryn Du Mansion complex will again be the venue for this highly popular community event which will include food trucks, music, and good times for all.
