Search for Interim Director of Pastoral and Ecclesial Care

Rev. Rick Douylliez, our presbytery’s Director of Pastoral and Ecclesial Care, has announced his upcoming retirement from his position in both the presbytery and the First Presbyterian Church of St. Marys effective June 1. The Council has approved the formation of a search committee to fill the position in an interim capacity allowing the Personnel Committee to carry out a review of our current 3-director model and make any adjustments. We will give thanks for Rick’s ministry at the Spring Stated Meeting in May.

Those with interest in the position should please submit a cover letter, resume and three references (phone and email) to Deanie Strength, Director of Administration/Stated Clerk, deaniestrength@savannahpresbytery.org

Proposed Amendments

to the PCUSA Book of Order

Savannah Presbytery’s minister members and commissioners will vote at the Spring Stated Meeting (Tuesday, May 20) on the proposed amendments to the Book of Order.  These proposed amendments were approved by the 226th General Assembly at its gathering in Salt Lake City in the Summer of 2024, but a majority of presbyteries must approve an amendment for it to be entered into the Book of Order.

A complete list of amendments with Background, Rationale, and Advice from PCUSA entities may be found at: https://www.pcusa.org/resource/proposed-amendments-constitution

A vote tally of presbytery’s that have undertaken their vote is updated every other week:

Sympathy

Rev. Jesse Truvillion

Sympathy is expressed to the family of Rev. Jesse Truvillion, Honorably Retired, who died on March 5, 2025 at 91. Jesse was ordained in the Missionary Baptist Church but became a Presbyterian in the 1960s. He pastored the Pilgrim Presbyterian Church in San Antonio and taught at Texas Christian University Arlington. He was retired by St. Augustine Presbytery then moved to Brunswick with his wife Jean and became a member of Savannah Presbytery. He supplied pulpits in the presbytery and pastored the St. Athanasius Episcopal Church in Brunswick, Georgia in his retirement.  Jesse preached the Gospel with great conviction and sought civil rights for all God’s children.
