Hello All,
What do you think is going to happen? That was easily the most frequent question I was asked in March. What I can tell you is the Amino Acid market changes almost daily. This week Monday, Lysine had a big price increase.
Everything I read and hear has the same message; most feed ingredient prices will hold or go up through the 2nd quarter of the year. I have been advocating "just in case" inventories for a few months now, I still think this is a good idea.
United States does not make enough Threonine, Methionine, or Tryptophan for the needs of our nation. Recently it appears we need to add Lysine to that list. Because of this we have to depend on imports.
As if the world marine traffic wasn't bad enough already, the recent Suez Canal blockage will cause more costly delays. See photos below. Unfortunately, this and other issues are backing up imports of just about everything.
Hopefully disruptions get corrected and price relief arrives this fall.
