We would like to start off our newsletter with a special announcement. We are gearing up for our annual Garden & Home Art Auction! This silent auction will run from May 1st - 12th, and all proceeds will help provide library programming for kids, teens, and adults.

We are reaching out to you, your family and friends for donations of:

Artwork and crafts

Gift baskets

Items to put in baskets

Gift cards

For inspiration, you can view past years' auction items and gift baskets in the albums on our Facebook page.

We would like to have donated items to the library by Friday, April 28th, so we can have all the auction items displayed for bidding on Monday, May 1st. With the Summer Reading Program coming up in a few months, every donation, even small ones, will help us plan more fun summer activities and prizes for you!

April Events

The library will be closed on Friday, April 7th and Saturday, April 8th for the Easter weekend. We hope you have a wonderful Easter!

If you need to return items while we are closed, there is a 24-hour book drop next to the E. Charles Street entrance (the entrance by the handicapped parking area).

Play & Learn

Wednesday, April 12th & 26th

@ 9:30 am

Come in for fun games and activities focused on learning through play! Recommended for toddlers and up. Led by Miss Morgan, brought to you by Children's Wisconsin.

Play & Learn is held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month.

Storytime will be taking a winter break, returning in the spring.

Congratulations to Bunny Pageant winners: Hop Dog, Coco, and Rabunzel!

Thank you to all the bunny designers and to everyone who voted in this year's Bunny Pageant! There were so many amazing bunnies; it was definitely a tough choice for the voters! All the pageant bunnies are free to hop home with their owners to brighten their homes for Easter.

Book Club details coming soon!

We will post details about the Book Club's selection for April, and the meeting date and time on our website and on our Facebook page soon.

Ongoing Programs

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (birth to 5 years old): This challenge is is a fun, exciting, and free way to start your child on the path to success! Any child ages birth to five years can participate. Each time you read 100 books, bring your reading record to the library to receive a special reward. At 1,000 books read, come celebrate at the library, see your child’s name placed on the 1,000 Book Wall of Fame, and receive a free book. Pick up a log sheet at the library, or download one by clicking here to get started!

Did you know that you can renew library items and receive notifications about available holds via text message?

It's easy to sign up - all you'll need are your library card and PIN number! If you need help or have forgotten your PIN number, call us at (920) 398-3434.

Wi-Fi hotspots are available for checkout at the library!

Thanks to a generous grant from the American Rescue Plan Act, the Markesan Public Library now has two new wi-fi hotspots for patrons 18 and over to checkout. These wi-fi hotspots operate through cellular data provided by US Cellular. Wherever US cellular coverage is available there too will our wi-fi hotspots work to provide our patrons with free wi-fi service. Checkouts are good for two weeks at a time.

The wi-fi hotspots are available at the checkout desk. If you have any questions, please call us at (920) 398-3434. They can be placed on hold similarly to books and movies.
