Child-Friendly Online Learning Resources for Families
If you have a pre-k child at home, you might be looking for activities to keep them learning. We recommend prioritizing hands-on and in-person activities for an optimal learning experience, but we also know that online activities can enhance and supplement these activities.

MECK Pre-K has compiled this great Resource Sheet with links to different educational resources, providing a mix of in-person and online activities to develop skills ranging from vocabulary to math to science to art. If you're looking for more non-screen activities, here's a list of 75 indoor activities from our friends at Charlotte on the Cheap.

This page from the Smart Start website provides a platform for the latest news, guidance, and resources, as well as keeping you updated on ways that you can take action to support families and the early childhood system.
Make Sure You and your Child are Counted!
The 2020 Census is happening now, and it's very important that young children are counted. The census count brings resources to our community for education, healthcare, nutrition and more. This video explains why it is important to include children in the census count.

Make it Count! by completing the census for you and your family.
Week of the Young Child™, April 13–17
April 13–17 is known as the Week of the Young Child™, an annual celebration of early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. Even though we are currently closed, MECK Pre-K has so much to celebrate: our students, our families, our teachers and our staff!

Here are some fun suggestions for how you can participate at home:

  • Music Monday: Sing, dance, celebrate, and learn. Through music, children develop math, language, and literacy skills – All while having fun and being active!
  • Tasty Tuesday: Healthy eating and fitness at home and school. This fun, food-themed day is about more than just cheese and crackers. Cooking together connects math with literacy skills, science, and more.
  • Work Together Wednesday: When children build together they experience teamwork and develop their social and early literacy skills. Even if you do it over FaceTime! Grab some materials and create!
  • Artsy Thursday: Think, problem solve, create. Children develop creativity, social skills and fine motor skills with open-ended art projects where they can make choices, use their imaginations, and create with their hands. Use any materials—from crayons to paint, clay to crafts!
  • Family Friday: Sharing family stories. Engaging and celebrating families is at the heart of supporting our youngest learners. NAEYC applauds family members’ role as young children’s first and most important teachers.
MECK Pre-K Testimonial
Recently, a MECK Pre-K parent had this to share about her experience.

“We are having an incredible experience with MECK Pre-K. My daughter’s facility, her teachers, the thoughtfulness of every aspect of the program from the time you walk in the door, to the shared family time at home has been amazing. Engaging is the best word to describe our experience. We are in the best learning environment for our child and wish all children could have a comparable experience.”
