Hello friends,
I hope we all stay well and safe during this challenging time. Try to keep busy with your artwork, as for me it is very comforting. Since our Spring Show has been rescheduled for September, we thought we would put together a Virtual Art Tour in place of the Spring Show. We received great responses and soon we will let you know when the virtual tour will ready to be seen. This way we can still share our artwork to the world, enjoy watching a wonderful video of our colleague's artwork, and maybe buyers will buy your work. Once you watch this video, let us know what you think. This is our first experimental video and we may do something like this again with all our musicians and writers.
Currently, we are not sure if we will be opening in May for our first Theme Art Show. The theme is "Chasing the Light". We will have to wait and see what Governor Baker says. So, in the meantime keep working on your pieces for this Theme show. It sounds like it may be held for the month of June. This will give you more time to be able to attend and finish your pieces for this show in our gallery. We will keep you posted.
GALA will attend the Fitchburg Open Studios this year. We have already dedicated a space in Fitchburg at the church. Since we all have missed opportunities this year to show and sell our artwork, this will be another avenue for you to participate in. We will be transporting the artwork from our themes shows "Food" and "My Favorite Places" to take to the church.
This year, we will be renting the gallery out for private functions. Would you like to have an event in a space with beautiful artwork on the wall? If you are interested let me know. We are now taking proposals for 2020 Group Shows. Would you like to have a Group Art Show at the Gallery, or do you want to join a Group Art Show? Click here for more detailed information and fill out a Group Show Proposal: https://form.jotform.com/90316574828969
Take care and God bless you.

GALA Annual Spring Art Show
|
We've been monitoring the COVID-19 developments on a daily basis and relying on state recommendations and projections for the coming weeks. Based on the current situation we feel it is best for the organization to reschedule our Spring Art Show. We are working with the American Legion to secure an open date for September. This will be our big Fall Art Show. Once we finalize a Fall date we will send out a "Call for Entries". For those of you that have already registered for the show, we will keep your information on file and payment. If you wish to change any of your entries or information, email Deb so she can update the database.
We know you were looking forward to the upcoming show as much as we were, but both the logistical and financial inconveniences of rescheduling will be far outweighed by holding the event at a safer time for both you and the artists. We will of course make huge efforts to re-publicize the show, through additional advertising, social media, email communications and our website. We hope, as the new dates get closer, you'll help us spread the word.
Meanwhile, stay safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing you in September.
Warm regards,
GALA Board of Directors |

Spring Flowers with Colored Pencil and Watercolor Pencil
Kendra Ferreira
Saturday, April 25, 2020, 9:00 - 4:00
First Baptist Church, Keene, NH
Class description: In this fun and informative workshop students will learn to create vibrant and colorful drawings with the simple tool of colored pencils by layering, blending, burnishing and creating rich darks. Colored pencils are an easy transported medium and can be used for simple sketches to complex layered drawings. We will also be combining and learning about mixing dry colored pencils with watercolor pencils and how this mixed media approach allows for a quicker build up of color and tone. Artists of all levels will enjoy expanding the boundaries of this versatile colored pencil medium.
In this workshop we will be drawing cheerful spring flowers, studying the form and curves and creating colorful drawings. I like to begin the work- shop with a short discussion about materials and a short demo about using colored pencils and different techniques. Students will work from floral still life set ups to their own abilities with my assistance. I like to work a little with each person individually and guide each student to obtain his or her goals.
$65 for members and $90 for non-members.

Family Health Center of Worcester is pleased to invite artists to participate in our 22nd annual Art in the City fundraising gala. Art in the City raises funds to directly support critical health services for over 35,000 low-income, culturally diverse individuals cared for by Family Health Center.
