"There is one thing Alzheimer's cannot take away and that is love. Love is not a memory.
It's a feeling that resides in your heart and soul."

We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to one of our volunteers, Fran Liautaud. Fran comes to us with experience as an Organizational Development & Training Department Manager, overseeing programs that help to create optimal results in leadership development, conflict resolution and team building.

A few words from our volunteer coordinator, Marie:

" Fran is a wonderful person to work with--always brightening the room with her smile, positive energy and great sense of humor. She is very caring, thoughtful, and above all, a team player. She is a great listener, with an attentiveness that really helps our clients here and makes them feel welcome and heard. Fran has been an extraordinary addition to our crew!"

Thank you, Fran!
Isolation Among Caregivers

A diagnosis of Alzheimer's or Dementia very often leaves family members feeling very isolated as they are usually the primary caregivers.
Along with that comes stress-- both emotional and physical.
It is easier said than done, but cannot be emphasized enough......
every caregiver needs a support system.
This includes finding the right support group, frequent self-care, taking deep breaths through the tough times and remembering to smile in appreciation of the little things.
The article below speaks to the isolation felt by so many caregivers and also states that the right support team only enhances relationships and in turn, improves one's mental and physical health.
