"We may think that we fully control ourselves. However, a friend can easily reveal something about us that we have absolutely no idea about."

Carl Jung

We see our reflection in the mirror every morning, and yet there are still times when we learn something new about ourselves.  Perhaps a friend points out something we hadn't noticed. We learn a new skill. We adapt to change. We are always able to discover more of our talents and modify or improve some of our weaknesses.  And as Insights Practitioners, we also have the chance to help others discover more about themselves.

This month, we've got lots of news and information about upcoming events and learning opportunities that will help you on the road of self-discovery.  If you're an Insights Practitioner, we've got some opportunities for you to grow in your capacity to help others see new things in themselves.

So we invite you to top up that mug, take five, and catch up on the latest news from Insights Learning and Development.

Discovering Team Effectiveness Practitioner Event

A face-to-face Portfolio Experience for Insights Discovery Client Practitioners on Vancouver Island.

Insights Discovery Team Effectiveness Model
Friday, April 28th

Develop the confidence and competence to deliver Discovering Team Effectiveness sessions within your own organization.

We know getting over to our training centre in Vancouver isn't always an option, and Practitioner Development is important to us.  So this year, we're undertaking live training events on Vancouver Island in association with some of our clients.  This event will be hosted by the Ministry of Technology, Innovation and Citizens' Services at their training facility in Victoria.  In exchange for their use of this facility, we're providing complimentary attendance for their Client Practitioners - and you don't have to leave the island to get this great face-to-face portfolio event.  Join Client Relationship Director Deborah Lang on April 28th for this full day experience.

Each participant will receive a Discovering Team Effectiveness Workshop Journal as well as Facilitator and Coach Notes and PowerPoint slide deck.

Part experience and part instruction, this full day event will expand and strengthen your ability to deliver powerful Team Effectiveness learning events within your organization.

Friday, April 28th 8:30 - 4:00 PM

Ministry Technology, Innovation and Citizens' Services

Dialing UP - Dialing DOWN
Last month, we uploaded some PowerPoint slides you can use to help people when they are considering how to adapt their style, either by dialing up a colour energy, or dialing down their dominant colour energy.  These can be used before an adapting and connecting exercise or as a set of summary slides - or one at each end of an activity.

These slides are available to Client Practitioners via the Client Practitioner Resources page on our website.  Use your password to access these materials, as well as links to earlier pre-recorded sessions and videos.  If you can't remember your password or haven't set up access yet, contact your Client Relationship Director or email our office.

CP Renewals
A one-day interactive session for Insights Discovery Client Practitioners committed to keeping their learning alive. Renewals are full-day 're-accreditation sessions' designed to extend your Insights Discovery certification for another three years.  While each program is adjusted to meet the needs of the registered participants, a typical day addresses questions such as:
  • What exercises can I use to reinforce key messages in a personal effectiveness workshop?
  • What do I need to remember when debriefing an individual's Insights Discovery Profile?
  • How can I apply other chapters in the Insights Discovery Profile?
  • What is common, and different, as you transition from an introductory workshop to Discovering Team Effectiveness or Discovering Leadership Effectiveness?
  • What's the difference between an integrated Insights learning strategy and single event workshops?
  • What new resources might fit with the needs in my organization?
Regina - Tuesday, May 16th.
Calgary - Thursday, September 14th.

Take your leaders a step further ...
Consider Insights Transformational Leadership (ITL)

Designed for mid-senior leaders who want to take their leadership learning a step further, ITL will touch on what makes a great leader, different leadership styles, and leadership motivators.  Focusing on preference, leaders will learn more about how to adapt and influence those they lead, and how their individual leadership preferences will impact on their capabilities.

While this program can only be facilitated by Insights, it provides your leaders the opportunity to:
  • Explore the four primary manifestations of leadership that build the framework of the (ITL) model, reflecting on personal strengths in each area
  • Identify individual core assumptions and beliefs about leadership and management
  • Review the Insights colour energies through the lens of leadership to understand personal leadership strengths and weaknesses.

To discuss an ITL program for your organization contact our office.

Building a Leadership pipeline
In this whitepaper, we discuss how to build a leadership pipeline and whether leaders are born or made.

Simple brain hacks can subtly encourage people to decide in your favour.
As you know from the Insights Ladder of Influence, our brains use emotion to assign value to our ideas and experiences-our feelings about things mark them in our minds as good or bad or somewhere in between. Fast Company has an interesting take on how we can skew this reality in our favor to build relationships, network, and gain influence.
