Do you know that yucky feeling you have when your power is off and you haven’t had water for several days? Your air conditioning isn't working and you’ve been sweating and you just know you stink? Your clothes are dirty because your washer and dryer aren’t working. Even worse, you might have to go to the store to pick up some things and the clerk looks down her nose at you?

Thanks to JLY's portable shower trailer, that is all changing for the Englewood homeless. So far, we have had three visits to the Englewood Indian Mound Park on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30. Campers are already visiting the park for a community dinner that is sponsored by Project Phoenix and Living Hope Church, so they invited us to join them. Campers get everything (towels and toiletries) they need for a hot, refreshing shower. They also get clean clothes! Last week, one of our campers exited the shower and exclaimed, “For a moment, I remembered what it was like to have a home!”.

Chuck Lindback comes to JLYM with years of ministry experience both as a pastor and in an outreach capacity. He also has experience from working as a case manager and case aide at local hospitals and for Charlotte County. The qualifications he brings to this ministry will be invaluable in providing necessary outreach to those JLYM serves in an everyday capacity.

Chuck has volunteered in many ways with many different ministries, including JLYM over the 20+ years of living in Charlotte County. The desire of his heart has always been to bring hope to the downtrodden and homeless, as well as veteran populations. His generous heart for people is displayed as he’s never met a stranger and he desires to pray God's will and peace over those who cross his path.

Amber Christopher joins our JLY Outreach Team with an extensive background working with domestic violence survivors as well as victims of rape and sex trafficking. She also participated in street outreach with a ministry in the heart of Vegas seeking to reach the lost through fellowship, prayer and offering resources to women trying to escape dangerous situations.

When she and her family relocated to Florida, Amber wasted no time in joining a homeless ministry in Bradenton as a volunteer, no doubt putting her many gifts to use in service of Jesus! We are so blessed to have Amber on our team- working to reach some of our most vulnerable campers!
