Interest Group Volunteers ∙ Springing Forward with Ebooks ∙ China Trade Monitor

INTEREST GROUPS SEEKING VOLUNTEERS

NELLCO’s Acquisition & Collection Development Interest Group (IG) is seeking volunteers to participate in the projects identified during the annual NELLCO Symposium 2023 Acquisition & Collection Development IG Meeting. Please feel free to volunteer for one or more projects (task forces and charges to be determined during first meeting).


You do not need to be a member of this IG to volunteer your time and expertise. We would like to hear your perspectives on these topics and we invite your participation in any way.


  • eResources Project - To develop an end-product pertaining to standards and workflows for communicating changes and updates of eResources.
  • Current Issues in Electronic Resource Licensing Event - To develop an online event (e.g., webinar, panel, discussion) to follow-up on the Current Issues in Electronic Resource Licensing document.
  • Building Towards the Future Project - To develop an end-product, building upon the suggestions and benefits of the “Evolution of Technical Services to Collection & Administrative Services Takeaways.”
  • Library Collection Strengths Survey Follow-Up Project - To provide a summarized report and additional end-product synthesizing the results of the 2023 Diving into Collection Development - Library Collection Strengths Survey.

The Interlibrary Loan Interest Group (IG) is also seeking volunteers for a working group that will review and update the existing NELLCO ILL Code. With the approval of the Expanded ILL Pilot Program to a permanent program, the ILL IG is seeking volunteer assistance from six to eight individuals who work in ILL.

Springing Forward with Ebooks: Workflows, Lifecycles, and Best Practices

This presentation will cover workflows, best practices and address challenges that exist in the e-resource lifecycle for Ebooks. The speaker will provide insight on how to manage perpetual vs. licensed Ebooks, the differences in EBA and DDA, inconsistent vendor nomenclature surrounding EBooks, DRM and DRM-free acquisitions. Participants will discuss acquisition format preferences (electronic vs. print) and wins and challenges in managing Ebooks in their own libraries.

 

Kaci Resau is the Electronic Resources Manager at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Kaci has experience in crafting workflows and creating best management practices for the lifecycle of electronic resources. Her research interests include succession/workforce planning, policy and workflow creation, electronic resource management, and discovery. Kaci received her MLIS from the University of Alabama, MA in International Relations & Conflict Resolution at American Public University System, and her B.A. in Government & Politics at St. John's University. Kaci is a Doctoral Candidate in the Public Administration program at West Chester University, and her dissertation focuses on succession and workforce planning in libraries.
