Spring is here!
Garden plants are emerging!
And SSKP volunteers inspire me everyday!
According to the United Way ALICE Report a bare bones survival budget in our region for a family of four is over $116,000. Working minimum wage one would need to work 132 hours per week (a week is 168 hours) to cover basic needs. This is not sustainable, so we are here to help!
What is sustainable, with your donations, kindness, and 800 amazing volunteers is ensuring every neighbor has access to food! With hearts focused on sharing food and fellowship, as they have been for more than 37 years, we remain committed to sourcing and sharing food. As we witness increased need among neighbors, and decreases in donated food, we notice empty spaces on many of our pantry shelves.
The community spirit to "make it work" energizes us and we are filled with gratitude for donations that enable SSKP Pantry staff to fresh purchase produce and eggs every week! I am excited by the community gardens that are coming alive for the new growing season. I am proud of our community!
SSKP operates five grocery pantries (soon to be six), nine community meals, and one backpack program that shares food with children in need. Please remember that you are welcome at the SSKP Community Meals with no questions asked! There is a place at the table for you.
