May is here, but it looks very different at Braeside. For one, there was snow on the ground when we woke up yesterday - extremely disheartening!
And on top of that, instead of welcoming people back to their cottages and trailers, and gearing up for our busiest season of ministry we are closed and remain in a holding pattern.
Currently, the Ontario Government has extended the Emergency Measures Act until June 2nd. That means we are still on the non-essential businesses list and closed until further notice. (
We are still able to be open to those leaseholders that have no other address in Canada or need a place to quarantine.)
Many have heard Doug Ford speak about cottage owners being allowed to go to their secondary residences. (Although it is not recommended.)
Currently, this does not apply to private campgrounds.
Trust me when I say that this is just as frustrating for us as it is for you!
We are carefully watching the news and hoping that we will be able to open to our leaseholders soon.
If you need to pick up something from your cottage or trailer or need to check on it, you
MUST contact the staff
BEFORE coming on the grounds.
You also need to be aware that no public spaces or public washrooms are open on the campgrounds. You may not use the parks or any other public areas.
Thank you for helping us to comply with the government's measures. We definitely do not want Braeside to incur any fines for non-compliance.
I think we also need to keep in perspective that the reasons behind the decisions being made are for the health and welfare of our communities.
We need to continue to pray for our leaders, our churches and all those affected by COVID-19. It has been amazing to see the resilience of our churches, and the creativity that God has been giving His people during this time.
As soon as we know more, we will let you know. IF you need any clarification don't hesitate to
I also want to thank those that have reached out to encourage us. We know that many of our plans may change this summer, "
the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Psalm 33:11"
God is not surprised and we will get through this crisis with His help and guidance.
We will also be making an announcement about the upcoming camp season in the next week or two, please pray for us and the other camps in our districts that will be affected this summer.
We are praying for you!
