Dear Friends,
Last week we were once again faced with unthinkable violence in Tennessee. As a mother and an educator, I hurt for all who are impacted by the tragedy at The Covenant School. I am also very aware that these events touch us all - students, teachers and families across the country. This incident hit particularly close to home because the school was a close knit private school. I know that many of the educators I spoke with in the days that followed were deeply affected.
The past few years have brought a number of stressors into our lives: the pandemic, economic uncertainties, and violence in our schools and communities. Somehow, through it all, educators have remained a stable force in the lives of our children. If it feels like you and your teachers are facing a lot - you are, if it feels really hard sometimes - it is. Please remember: you matter, what you do makes a difference, the students you are educating are our hope for a better tomorrow and most of all, it's ok to ask for help when you need it.
A few weeks ago, our MoCAPE Board was able to have a Day at the Capitol. We met with several legislators from across the state to express our gratitude for their support of private schools. We also met with our new Treasurer - Vivek Malek. He and his team have been incredibly supportive of the MO Scholars program. I'm excited to continue working with their team as this program grows across the state.
This month's newsletter has several links to resources as you begin to evaluate your curriculum and professional development needs for next school year. I want to thank last month's Sponsor - Curriculum Associates. If you missed our Zoom Webinar, please check out the link to the recording below. We are so blessed to have amazing community partners supporting private schools in Missouri.
As the days get longer and warmer, I hope that Spring will bring moments of connection and renewal for us all. For those of you who celebrate one of the religious holidays over the next couple of weeks, I pray those celebrations will be peaceful and joy filled.
Prayers of Blessings for you all,
Nicolette Gibson
