Job Creation – When a small business opens its doors for business they create jobs many of which pay well. Well paying jobs create more disposable income for people to use within the community.

Creates local partnerships – By supporting our local businesses we create lasting partnerships in which businesses owners feel connected and committed to the community. Many times these local businesses donate to fundraisers, charity events, and so much more.

Better for the environment – Local businesses tend to have less negative impact on the environment because they are often located in central business districts or in other existing retail areas and therefore require relatively little infrastructure investment. Additionally small businesses often carry more locally produced goods or are producers of local goods. Locally sourced products are better for the environment because less fossil fuels are used compared to shipping from out of the region or country.

N-Stitches Embroidery is happy to be aiding the Dickinson Chamber of Commerce with this fundraiser. Our hope is to raise funds for various Chamber needs, along with bringing together a sense of community with the Shop Local design for our beloved community, Dickinson, Texas.

Higher Up Texas is proud to announce its inaugural class of graduates! In August, 25 Dickinson High School students began a journey that would lead to many things outside of their comfort zones. This discomfort would lead them to new experiences, ideas and ways of thinking critically. Our HUTs learned about financial literacy, civic engagement, culture, social responsibility, mental health, future financial wealth, and self-advocacy. We are proud of them and plan to continue support beyond graduation through mentorship, career opportunities, and personal development.

Higher Up Texas is a 501(c)3 organization with a mission to create a core-value based environment that introduces high school students to a broader world view through ideas, experiences, people and a network of support outside of their communities to develop critical thinking skills and create a clear pat of career trajectory which will serve them throughout their lives.
