Get to Know the
Leaders Behind this Year's
Run for Hope

Sheri + Jackie
25th Anniversary Run Co-Chairs
Q: Why do you chair the OUR HOUSE Run for Hope?

Jackie : I chair the Run for Hope because I enjoy being part of a team effort in creating a fun atmosphere filled with warmth & kindness to celebrate and honor those we love that have died. I also cherish my Co-Chair and friend of 30 years, Sheri, who brought me to OUR HOUSE 7 years ago, which changed me for the better in countless ways.

Sheri : I have been part of the Run for Hope since it became an OUR HOUSE event. To me, it is the only way for the public and our generous donors to get a glimpse of what OUR HOUSE is all about. Group members and alumni walking with the pictures of their loved ones on their back is a very emotional sight. The run is also a time when former group members get to see each other and catch up. Chairing it with my very dear friend, Jackie, is very special to me. We have known each other for 30 years and are still very close friends. Being able to co-chair with her makes it all the more fun.

Q: What is your favorite part of the day?

Jackie : My favorite part of the day is two-fold. First, I love the In-Memory Ceremony where people have the ability to share the person's name, photo and how they died. I think it's a beautiful reminder at the start of the day to share something intimate about those they cherish and miss to everyone. Secondly, I love seeing the rescue dogs spread unconditional love to any soul who needs soothing.

Sheri: The In-Memory Ceremony! It is such an honor to witness these brave people get up and talk about their loved one who died. It is done in a very caring way; just like the groups are.

Q: What do you love about OUR HOUSE?

Jackie : I t provides a safe place for everyone to take the most difficult journey we all must endure at one time or another in our lives.

Sheri : B eing a group leader.

Q: In honor of OUR 25th anniversary, what were you doing when you were 25?

Jackie: Expecting my twin boys!

Sheri : P racticing law, and working out to Jane Fonda’s DVD’s!

Thank you deeply for all that our volunteers do to support the mission of OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center. The commitment to our community of grievers is an inspiration and it is through your compassion and empathy that they are able to feel safe as they travel their path toward hope and healing.
OUR HOUSE volunteers are the heart of our agency, with over 450 volunteers donating more than 20,000 hours of service annually as group leaders or event volunteers.
We are grateful to have such talented, wise, and wonderful volunteers who make a big difference in the lives of grieving children and adults!
