The Prairie Star Event Center is owned and operated by Meryl Stern and Erica Knowles, a mother-daughter team with deep roots in Logan County. This beautiful country venue has quickly become a welcoming space for meaningful gatherings, offering a setting where family, friends, and community come together.
Since opening its doors to the public in May 2024, The Prairie Star has hosted a wide range of events, from family and class reunions to hunter’s retreats, book clubs, business meetings, girls’ gatherings, and yoga retreats. The venue has also been the backdrop for countless celebrations, including graduation and birthday parties, holiday gatherings, showers, memorial services, and both elegant and rustic weddings. With sweeping prairie views and unforgettable sunrises and sunsets, it offers a setting that feels both peaceful and special. A unique feature of the venue is its ability to accommodate up to 10 overnight guests on-site, allowing celebrations to linger a little longer.
The Prairie Star began as a place for the Knowles family to gather and celebrate their own milestones. What started as something personal has grown into something the wider community can enjoy, while still holding onto that same sense of warmth and intention. Located on the Knowles family farm, originally homesteaded 1907, the property carries a rich sense of history. Many original structures remain, adding to the venue’s authentic country charm. One standout feature is the original wooden windmill, currently being restored, which has already become a favorite backdrop for wedding photography.
While just a short drive from Sterling, The Prairie Star feels like a true prairie escape. Today, it continues to build its reputation not only locally but also across Colorado’s Front Range, with many guests choosing local vendors to help bring their celebrations to life.
