Our Member Meeting on March 18th was our first face-to-face meeting in the MAA Studio in Midway Town Hall this year!! It was so nice to gather in person AND have a great attendance on Zoom!! JOHN HUGHES gave a wonderful demo! We look forward to his class in Midway on April 23. You can still register at www.midwayartassociation.com!

About John Poon

John Poon has spent more than three decades pursuing a life devoted to painting. A graduate of the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, his career has evolved naturally between creating artwork and helping others discover their own artistic voice.

Travel has played a significant role in shaping John’s work. From expansive inland landscapes to the quiet boats and marshes along the Carolina coast, each location has offered new opportunities to explore atmosphere, light, and mood. Rather than simply recording a place, his paintings seek to capture the experience of being there.

John’s paintings are included in numerous public and private collections throughout the United States. His work has received recognition at major plein air invitational events, including Best of Show at the National Wildlife Museum Annual Plein Air Invitational, the Artist Choice Award at the Maui Plein Air Invitational, and the Gold Medal Best of Show at the Maynard Dixon Invitational.

He is represented by Mountain Trails Gallery in Park City, Utah, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming; LePrince Fine Art in Charleston, South Carolina; and Walls Fine Art Gallery in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. While his work reaches collectors across the country, Utah remains home — a landscape that continues to inform and inspire his painting practice.
