COMMENTS FROM THE EDITOR: Did you know that Tuscaloosa, Alabama is home to the University of Alabama (of course you do), one of the largest and most respected universities in the United States? The presence of the university has not only brought in a diverse and highly educated population, but numerous cultural events, successful athletic programs, and a thriving economy. It's no wonder that Tuscaloosa County has become an increasingly popular choice for both students and families looking to settle down in a dynamic community. Explore Tuscaloosa's growing real estate market to become part of this vibrant city! I give tours of the area so I'm happy to take you around our city anytime you're ready.

On another note, I wanted to draw your attention to the event on April 30th being held in downtown Northport, the West Alabama Food & Wine Festival. This is near and dear to me, being elected onto the board last year, I truly believe in the value of this fun event, where all profits benefit the West Alabama Food Bank. You MUST have a ticket to get in and there will only be 1000 tickets sold (VIP and General Admission). Get your tickets NOW, don't wait. We always sell out and usually have people regretting waiting last minute. It's so much fun and really shows off local restaurants and beverage vendors. This year, a first time for Food (or drink) Trucks. See below for more details.

Spring Maintenance Tips
In addition to spring cleaning, this is also a great time of year for some home maintenance. Take a look at this checklist from hgtv.com:
  1. Check for loose or leaky gutters
  2. Examine the chimney and have the flue cleaned
  3. Check your attic for proper ventilation, birds' nests, and leaks
  4. Re-caulk windows and doors
  5. Service the AC unit

Springtime in Paris
Paris is a hub for art, culture, fashion, and food. It also boasts one of the best healthcare systems in the world.

Real estate prices in Paris rise and fall as they do around the world, but long-term, it is one of the surest investments. Foreigners are also eligible for in-country financing. According to liveandinvestoverseas.com, taxes are high, but utilities and day-to-day cost of living are fairly low.

Paris is broken into 20 arrondissements, or districts. As you would expect, prices vary widely by arrondissement with the most expensive typically being in the 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th, and the least expensive being in the 13th, 18th, 19th, and 20th.

If you are interested in investing in Paris, or elsewhere, I can help you find a real estate agent who is the expert in that area!
THIS MONTH'S RECIPE
Eggs Benedict Casserole
A perfect option for Easter brunch, this spin on Eggs Benedict from tasteofhome.com can be assembled the night before for an easy and elegant breakfast!
Casserole:
12 oz Canadian bacon, chopped
6 English muffins, split and cut into
1-inch pieces
8 large eggs
2 c. 2% milk
1 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. paprika

Hollandaise:
4 large egg yolks
1/2 c. heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1/2 c. butter, melted
Minced chives (optional)
  1. Place half the Canadian bacon in a greased 3-qt. or 13x9-in. baking dish; top with English muffins and remaining bacon.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and onion powder; pour over top of bacon and muffins. Refrigerate, covered, overnight.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°. Remove casserole from refrigerator while oven heats. Sprinkle top with paprika. Bake, covered, 35 minutes.
  4. Uncover; bake 10-15 minutes longer or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. In top of a double boiler or a metal bowl over simmering water, whisk egg yolks, cream, lemon juice, and mustard until blended; cook until mixture is just thick enough to coat a metal spoon and temperature reaches 160°, whisking constantly.
  6. Reduce heat to very low. Very slowly drizzle in warm melted butter, whisking constantly.
  7. Serve sauce immediately with casserole. If desired, sprinkle with chives.
