Meet Our New Bookkeeper: Antoinette Vitale

The Town of Pelham Public Library is pleased to welcome new bookkeeper Antoinette Vitale.


Antoinette has lived in Pelham with her husband and four children for the past 16 years. She is excited to bring her accounting, bookkeeping, and treasury experience to the Pelham Library.

Wild and Crazy Facts About Wild Mushrooms

Explore the diverse and captivating world of wild mushrooms! This all-ages presentation, led by experienced mycophile Lisa Solomon, will delve into the surprising variety of colors, shapes, sizes, and even smells found in fungi, challenging common myths along the way. Participants will learn to identify major mushroom types and their defining characteristics, discover essential gear for forest foraging, and review safety rules for collecting and cooking edible varieties. The session will also cover emerging frontiers in mycology: how fungi can help save the world, and will provide connections to local amateur clubs, field guides, mobile apps, and online identification communities.

Managing Your Career in Changing Times

Westchester Library System Career Coaching Services presents a free, in-person seminar: "Managing Your Career in Changing Times." Join this six-week seminar facilitated by a professional Career Coach to clarify your career direction, explore career alternatives, and learn about the latest job search trends in resumes, interviewing, and LinkedIn. This six-week seminar meets in-person once a week for 90 minutes beginning in April, concluding with an individual career coaching session. A virtual orientation with the Career Coach is required prior to the seminar, and you are expected to attend all six sessions.

Crafty Adults: Embossed Foil Bookmarks

Join our resident artist/instructor Sara Mallach this month as we make stunning embossed foil bookmarks. Using simple techniques that date back to ancient civilizations across the continents, we'll create pieces that are practical and beautiful. A perfect reminder of our shared history and cultural connections over the ages.

Join us to get ready for Yeondeunghoe, or the Korean Lotus Lantern Festival! Learn more about Korean culture, and make your very own Lotus Flower Lantern during this extremely popular program.

English as a Second/Foreign Language (ESL) for Intermediate Students

Join us for a series of ESL classes for adults with Pelham resident EJ Sepp!


This class is intended for low-intermediate to advanced students who are learning English as a second or foreign language. (No beginners please!)


EJ Sepp has taught ESL for 20 years and is the co-author of English Express New York: A Cultural Reading & Writing Text for English Language Learners.

Tai Chi at the Library

Join Master Yao-Wah Chan for beginning Tai Chi. He has over 40 years of experience teaching throughout New York City and Westchester and is trained in multiple Chinese disciplines.


Tai Chi is a series of slow, gentle, and meditative body movements that can help you reduce pain, increase flexibility, improve balance, and cope with stress.

Mah Jongg

Join us for a drop-in Mah Jongg program for adults ages 18 and up. This program is for participants of all abilities who know how to play American Mah Jongg. No beginners, please. The Library will provide Mah Jongg sets, but please bring your own Mah Jongg card. The Pelham Recreation Department is offering beginner Mah Jongg classes. Adult Hybrid Book Clubs

The After-Dark Book Club will meet on Thursday, April 9 at 7:30 pm to discuss Midnight Rising: John Brown and the Raid That Sparked the Civil War by Tony Horwitz and on Thursday, May 7 at 7:30 pm to discuss Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng.


The 2nd-Friday Book Club will meet on Friday, April 10 at 10:30 am to discus The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and on Friday, May 8 at 10:30 am to discuss Memorial Days by Geraldine Brooks.

Fiber Fridays, and Stitching Saturdays

Love to knit or crochet? We have something for everyone. Join us every Friday afternoon for an informal needlework group for adults and teens. Knitters, crocheters, and needle point enthusiasts of all abilities are welcome, but please bring your own materials and note that no instructors will be present. We also meet the first Saturday of the month for Stitching Saturdays where we work on our crochet community banner celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the Battle of Pell. If you are new to crocheting and would like to learn, please email Tash (ngross@pelhamlibrary.org) to make sure he is available to get you started with a mini-lesson. Digitizing Days are Wednesdays

This program for digitizing photos has been a great success. Bring in your family photos and our librarians will assist you with scanning them to a USB drive using our high-speed scanner. Musical Adventures at the Library with Concordia Conservatory

Join storytellers and musicians from Concordia Conservatory for this special Thursday Morning Story Time for children ages three and up.


This event is made possible by the sponsorship of the Conservatory Music Outreach Fund.

Join us for an hour of open Lego play at the Library! This program is for children ages six and up, and will take place in-person at the Library. Registration is not required but an adult must accompany the child.

Canine Story Time

Join Lisa and her furry friend Freckle from The Good Dog Foundation for a special kind of Story Time. This time, it won't be adults reading to kids: it will be kids reading to dogs! Young readers ages six and up can sign up for 10-minute sessions, during which they will be able to read to Freckle, Lisa's adorable canine companion. This will give kids a safe space to become comfortable reading out loud.


To reserve a spot, join us at the Library on the day of the program, and see the librarian at the reference desk to sign up for your 10-minute session. We will start accepting reservations at 3 pm (not earlier!). First come, first served.

Join us for a special STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Story Time and craft with Pelham High School senior Aanika Roy.

Outdoor Story Time

Join us for our popular Story Time for infants and toddlers outside on our front lawn. Story Time is designed to enhance early literacy skills and features diverse children's books in which all children can see themselves represented... plus we have a lot of fun! Please bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Story Time will be held outdoors throughout the year, but will be cancelled on days when the temperature is extreme, weather is extreme, or if it is raining. You may call the Library when we open at 10 am to inquire.


We are excited to offer outdoor programs for children and families at the Pelham Public Library! Participation in any outdoor activity comes with some natural risks and children must be under the vigilant supervision of an accompanying adult. By choosing to have your child participate, you acknowledge these risks and understand that the Library cannot be responsible for any illness, injury, or loss that may occur during the program. For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, please follow all instructions provided by Library staff. Thank you!

Current Library hours are as follows:

  • Monday: 10 am-8 pm
  • Tuesday: 10 am-5 pm
  • Wednesday: 10 am-5 pm
  • Thursday:10 am-8 pm
  • Friday: 10 am-5 pm
  • Saturday: 10 am-4 pm


  • The Library building is open to patrons for browsing and checking out materials. Computers, printer, and study areas are also available to patrons.
  • We also continue to offer contactless, curbside pickup (you can place holds using the Westchester Library System app or through our online catalog.)
  • You can visit our digital library and select ebooks, audiobooks through Overdrive (including the Libby App) and Hoopla or stream movies through Kanopy.
  • Our librarians are always available to answer reference questions, give book recommendations, and provide technology help. Notary services are generally available during Library open hours. Please call in advance to confirm.
