PLAN A GREAT YEAR OF SCOUTING AT ADVENTURE CON

Scouting Adventure Con is a new event that’s aimed at helping units plan their next year of program. This event will be a one-stop-shop to learn about all of the programing that will be happening in the Washington Crossing Council in the year ahead.  Every unit will want to send at least one adult leader.

Scouting Adventure Con will be held at Bucks County Community College on Thursday, May 21. Booths will be open from 6pm until 8:30pm, but participants are free to come and go at any time during the evening.

This event is being designed to make it as easy as possible for participants to attend, feel informed on upcoming activities, and come away with a ton of great ideas for their next year of program.

All participants are asked to register in advance.  Click the button in this article to sign up.

REMINDER: YPT & PA ACT 15 UPDATE

As announced last month: To assist unit leadership in maintaining required youth protection standards, the council will provide notifications to individuals and unit key 3 members regarding pending expiration of YPT or (for PA units) PA Act 15 clearances. Individuals who do not have current YPT or PA Act 15 clearance will have their membership suspended. The new procedures will go into effect April 15.

FUN AT CUB SCOUT DAY CAMP

Cub Scout Day Camp is fun with a purpose! Cub Scouts are put into dens by age/rank so that age-appropriate activities can be offered. For instance, Tigers (with their adult partner) would have a simpler activity (like tying a square knot) and Webelos/AOL would have a more advanced activity (like tying two half-hitches).

The dens rotate to different program stations throughout the day which include archery, gaga, crafts, STEM, nature, cooking, scout skills and, in most locations, fishing. Songs, chants, cheers, and laughter abound at day camp. The week concludes with a campfire program to which all parents are invited. Adult volunteers are welcome to attend.

Day camps run throughout the council all summer. Here is the list of dates and locations:

  • June 24-28; Core Creek Park
  • June 24-28; Mercer County Park
  • July 8-12; Rosedale Park
  • July 15-19; Sauerland Outdoor Center
  • August 5-9; Ockanickon Scout Reservation

Day camp runs each day of the session from 9am to 4pm.
