Dear Alliance,

April brings a strong focus on learning, connection, and collective action across the Alliance. This month, we’re offering several opportunities for members to build skills, contribute insights, and help shape both our data and policy efforts in meaningful ways.

Evaluation Learning Session: How to Synthesize Large Amounts of Data

April 2 | 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM

Join us for a focused learning session on how to synthesize large amounts of data. We’ll explore practical strategies for organizing, distilling, and making sense of complex or abundant information so it can be used effectively for decision-making, storytelling, and reporting. Whether you’re working with community data, survey results, or multiple data sources, this session will offer tools to help turn information into clear, actionable insights. Zoom Link

Ripple Effects Mapping (Data & Learning Workgroup)

April 14 | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

The Data & Learning Workgroup will host a collaborative Ripple Effects Mapping session, an interactive process designed to capture and visualize the broader impacts of our collective efforts. This is a great opportunity to reflect on what’s working, identify connections across initiatives, and contribute to a shared understanding of Alliance-wide impact. Zoom Link

Protective Factors & Community Data for Policy

April 16 | 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM

All Alliance members are invited to participate in a discussion centered on protective factors related to alcohol use. This session will also introduce and gather input on a community data collection effort aimed at strengthening our policy work. Your perspective will help inform how we frame, collect, and use data to support effective, community-driven policy strategies. Zoom Link

Policy Workgroup (Ongoing Legislative Tracking)

April 10 & 24 | 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

The Policy Workgroup continues to meet twice this month as we track developments and support efforts to reduce the BAC limit to .05. These sessions are a space to stay informed, share updates, and coordinate advocacy efforts. All members are welcome to join and engage in advancing this important policy priority. Zoom Link

We hope you’ll take part in these opportunities to learn, connect, and contribute to the Alliance’s ongoing work.

Warmly,

Tesia Bobrycki

Save the Date: Pathways to Recovery

The 2026 Pathways to Recovery Conference returns to Anchorage at the Hilton Hotel on May 12-14, 2026. This statewide event brings together professionals, community leaders, and advocates working across prevention, treatment, recovery, and connection to care to address Alaska’s substance use and behavioral health challenges.

Attendees can expect keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and opportunities to build partnerships that strengthen Alaska’s network of care and improve access to services across our communities.

Travel reimbursement is available for individuals interested in attending!

We encourage you to share this opportunity widely with your networks especially partners working in opioid overdose and infectious disease prevention, treatment, and recovery-related fields across Alaska.

Travel reimbursement is intended to reduce financial barriers and support participation from those who may not otherwise be able to attend, with priority given to providers serving Alaska Native and American Indian communities and those traveling from rural areas.

Alliance Member Content Sharing

The Alliance’s Communications and Social Norms Workgroup is creating ways to increase engagement among Alliance members and to communicate to potential members who we are, how we do this work, and why membership might add value to their personal or professional lives. As part of this effort, we’re asking members to share more of themselves for us to share on social media, the website, or in the newsletter.

You are welcome to share photos, videos, and/or written words about your personal or professional experiences, and especially how being an Alliance member brings value to your work or life.

When you are ready to share, you may add content to this Google Drive folder or email Tesia Bobrycki (tbobrycki@recoveralaska.org) and Kara Stewart (kstewart@recoveralaska.org).

Ripple Effects Mapping with the Data & Learning Workgroup

Join us for an upcoming Ripple Effects Mapping and Person-Centered Planning session hosted by the Data and Learning Workgroup. This two-hour, interactive session will take place on Tuesday, April 14 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM via Zoom and offers a chance to reflect on the impact of our collective work and identify connections across efforts happening statewide.

Participants will help build an updated inventory of data, strategies, and community-driven prevention work, while contributing to shared learning that strengthens our overall approach. This is an opportunity to better understand what is working, where gaps exist, and how we can continue to grow together.

How Alliance Members Are Choosing Connection

-Kelby Murphy, Alliance Communications Contractor

"I choose connection by spending more time outside and with my two dogs, Saoirse and Cillian. Colder weather has offered more colors in the sky at night, and more daylight has led to more exciting activity in nature to watch from our windows. Being outside and with animals helps me pause and remember to slow down and reconnect with what matters most in my life."

We’d love to hear from all of you about how you choose connection, whether in small daily moments or in the big steps you’re taking to find and maintain it in your lives!

Email your connection stories to Tesia: tbobrycki@recoveralaska.org.

About The Alliance

The Alliance is a collaborative effort of multiple and diverse partners across Alaska who recognize the harms of alcohol on individuals and communities. We are personally and professionally committed to working together to address this complex problem in our state.

Our primary goal is to connect and engage communities as partners - increasing protective factors, reducing risk factors, and changing social norms - to prevent underage alcohol use and eliminate all harms of alcohol use in Alaska.
