Thank You for Volunteering!

April is National Volunteer Month and we want to recognize our many, many dedicated volunteers who go above and beyond to make sure individuals and families in need receive healthy food, warm clothing, comfortable shoes, cozy blankets, furnishings for homes, and much more!

Not only are these incredible volunteers fulfilling basic needs of those we serve, they are instilling a sense of worth, importance, confidence, joy, and hope in each person we encounter week after week throughout the year.

We are truly grateful for the countless hours of selflessness poured into the folks we serve in Newark and the mission of Sparrow House!

Roxbury Rotary Club

Thank you to the Roxbury Rotary Club, Succasunna for warmly welcoming Sparrow House Outreach as guest speakers at their weekly gathering and for their generous donation to our mission!

We loved getting to know this fun group and admire how much support they provide to many nearby communities and causes!

A huge thank-you to I AM HOPE NJ for donating 18 Easter baskets for the young ones we serve! They were a tremendous hit and there was a lot of excitement amongst the families!

Thank you Urban Cottage, Peapack for donating brand new slippers for the women we serve!

What a treat for the women to receive some comfort for themselves, and it brought many smiles and gratitude!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Meet Mary and John Ledyard

Mary and John have been volunteering since they were teenagers. They love spending time helping others, taking care of nature, and making a positive difference in the world.

Mary has been one of our Food Warriors who picks up donated meals from a local corporation, as well as connecting us with her quilting guild so that we may pass along beautiful homemade quilts to those who need them, serving in Newark, and both she and John love scouting out furniture for setting up new homes for families who are newly housed.

Thank you Mary and John for all your dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work in making a positive impact on those in need!
