In recognition of April as Move More Month and Parkinson's awareness Month, this is a great time to share a few notes on some benefits of being active. For those with disabilities, such as Parkinson's, any added benefits we can get without medications or surgeries are even better.
Physically moving more will provide benefits to all people, especially for those with disabilities. Often, people focus on the exterior when they think of doing more exercise and trying to get changes in the way their body looks. Yes, physical changes will happen if you stick to a plan. But, moving more also has benefits that aren't as visible.
Stress relief, improved memory, and even sleeping better occurs when we are more active. The more we move, the more blood circulation increases in our body and will promote oxygen flow to muscles, possibly booster immune systems, can keep you warm on cooler climates, and promotes healthy skin. Our skin is an often overlooked factor that helps against any bad germs, protects our insides, and healthy skin will heal faster. Providing prevention against wounds or potentially developing pressure sores.
Try out new activities, and see what moving more does in your life.
