So, you ask, what IS the Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce? We are a business membership organization with a mission of attracting and promoting business in Dowagiac. We work to support our business members and build events that enrich our community and host new visitors that drive commerce. The goal is to keep Dowagiac growing and working as a vibrant community.
This past year we organized and hosted nine successful events and festivals. These events provided family entertainment and attracted visitors to town. We added a new event, the Dowagiac Home and Garden Tour, which was a fantastic success. We also brought the circus to town.
Our events attract visitors, many of whom were new to town, who will return again and again to spend money, supporting the businesses and the people who live here.
We publish the annual "Destination Dowagiac" that serves as a Membership Directory and Travel Guide and is distributed across a tri-sate area, attracting visitors from all over, and serving our local community also.
The Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce collaborates with the City of Dowagiac government in that the City provides event security, traffic control, access to amenities (use of parks and streets for events, barricades, plowing of streets, etc.).
The Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce is an independent not for profit organization. Our staff and volunteers organize and carry out our events.
