What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a procedure that uses low temperature to reduce pockets of fat in the abdomen (muffin top), flanks (love handles), inner and outer thighs, bra (back) fat areas, and under the chin. The idea was developed by Harvard scientists who observed that fat is more susceptible to freezing than surrounding structures and can be specifically targeted for reduction. CoolSculpting, a device approved by the FDA reduces fat by freezing (cryolipolysis) while part of your skin is held under vacuum by an applicator. About 25-30% of the fat cells that are targeted die and are reabsorbed by the body with each treatment. Your skin is not affected.
How do I know if I need CoolSculpting?
If you can pinch the skin in the area you are interested in treating and are able to raise 1 to 2 inches of excess tissue (fat), then you could benefit from CoolSculpting. CoolSculpting is designed to remove isolated pockets of fat that persist, even with diet and exercise.
