It's National Pet Month!

The end of April marks the beginning of National Pet Month. We love our pets every month of the year, of course, but May marks a special time to say “thank you” for all the joy that pets bring into our lives. These benefits aren’t just emotional, either. Dog owners are statistically more likely to live longer lives! One thing is for sure…

Puppies Make Life Better!

Exciting training news!

If you don’t already know, for the last few months, we have been proud to host AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy classes at our Paradise Valley Festival location. These classes are all about getting your puppy off to the right start. Under the guidance of an AKC-certified trainer, new puppy owners can form a solid foundation for their puppies that will serve them well for the rest of their lives.

This class is open to puppies that originally came from Animal Kingdom or Puppies ‘N Love ages 6 months and younger. Learn more about what goes into an AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy class in our blog post about the subject.

We are delighted to announce that we now offer brand new SuperS.T.A.R. Puppy Classes! These classes are open to any puppy from Animal Kingdom or Puppies ‘N Love between 6 months and 1 year old. This extended class set aims to bridge the gap between puppies that have completed the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Classes but are still too young and immature to attempt the AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification. Growing puppies also have different needs than young puppies, and this class will focus more on obedience than novel experiences during their socialization window. This class is also open to puppies that are too old to participate in the S.T.A.R. Puppy classes!

These two pups had a very "hoppy" Easter. Thank you to Finley's family for sharing this adorable picture of her Easter dress. There is nothing that we love more than seeing one of our puppies grow up happy and loved.

On the Blog: Facilitating Safe and Happy Bonds!

Spring is a time for new beginnings, and that includes new friendships! Dogs are naturally social creatures, and most of them enjoy the company of other animals as well as people, but they may need some guidance to get started off on the right paw. Our blog series this month focuses on puppy safety with other animals.

Breeder Spotlight

We are proud to work with breeders that are committed to animal welfare, and twice per year we even visit a number of these breeders! Meet one of the breeders that we have visited numerous times over the years - Danny Bailey!

Some words from Danny:

"We take pride in the way we take care of our dogs, puppies, and kennels. It shows in the quality of dogs that we keep and breed.

We assume a lifetime responsibility for every puppy we send home. Our Homes for Life program is the result of this commitment and our dedication to preventing pet homelessness.

We understand that for unfortunate and unforeseen reasons sometimes customers who purchase our puppies can no longer care for them. For this reason, our customers agree to relinquish the dog to us, not a shelter.

We do this to ensure that we can find them a new, loving home but first provide them with the rehabilitation and care that they may need in addition to a neuter/spay as part of our commitment to responsible pet ownership.

Please help us find these babies

Who We Are
If you're new around here, please watch our newest introduction video that illustrates our mission, values, how we care for our puppies and our quality breeders:
To ensure that all of our puppies find homes in a timely manner, we reduce their price as they age.

By no means are we lowering the cost of these puppies because they are in any way less valuable, but it’s our mission to find each of our puppies a permanent, loving home as quickly as possible.

This Mini Labradoodle is a very special boy indeed! He loves to dance, play, and most of all he loves to cuddle. He gets along well with his other two kennelmates and would love to go to a home that has a furry sibling or two! He can sit, fetch, and lie down, and he’s just getting started. Take this loyal, loving puppy home with you today. Stop by Arizona Mills Mall or give us a call at (480) 831-2877 and meet him today!

Star of the Month

Mateo the Mastiff

Mateo is the latest in a family that truly loves the Mastiff breed. Here is what his new family has to say:

What was your experience with Puppies 'N Love?

My parents adopted our first English Mastiff, Sheba, from Puppies ‘N Love when I was nine years old. That experience was so special to me. Fast forward I adopted my own English mastiff, Baya, from Puppies ‘N Love in 2017. I had a great eight years with her. On April 15 2025 I went online and saw Puppies ‘N Love had an English Mastiff available. Danica was so helpful from the moment I called and made the process so easy knowing I was grieving Baya. I now have a beautiful English Mastiff puppy named Mateo.

How does your dog make your life better?

Mateo is so loving and cuddly. He fills my life with joy and happiness.

What is your favorite thing about your dog?

My favorite thing about Mateo is all the love he brings into not only my life but to his big brother Bentleys life. I can’t wait to see him grow up to be like Bentley.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story - and everyone should check out their Instagram, @bayathemastiff, to watch this not-so-little guy grow up with his beloved big bro!

Local Corner

At Animal Kingdom and Puppies ‘N Love, we are in and of the Valley, and we are committed to uplifting other businesses in our community. Here is a business we think you’ll like:

Groomin Tyme is a small, family-run dog groomer that values connection, both with their customers and their dogs. In their more than twenty years of service in the valley, they have helped countless dogs look and feel their best. Some dogs have even been groomed by Grace and her husband for their entire lives!

While Groomin Tyme serves dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes, they specialize in dogs that need some extra care. This includes senior dogs that may suffer from cognitive decline or arthritis, handicapped dogs, or aggressive dogs. They tailor their approach based on every dog’s individual needs, and their cage- and kennel-free environment helps put dogs at ease. They also provide their services for rescues and veterinary clinics in the area in their spare time.

Groomin Tyme is located in North Phoenix and is open Tuesday-Saturday. Give them a call at (602) 866-1566. For more information and customer reviews, check out their Yelp page.

BUYERS BEWARE
ARIZONA RANKS HIGH ON BBB'S LIST OF PUPPY SCAMS COMMITTED IN 2022

In the last few years, online pet scams are on the rise and have caused grief for people seeking new pets, with little to no recourse for the victims.

According to the Better Business Bureau, Arizona is at the top of the list for puppy scams per 100k people.

California is the state with the most reported puppy scams, with 167 scams reported to the Better Business Bureau from January 1, 2022 to October 31, 2022. This makes up more than 10% of the total number of scams reported nationwide.

SPOTTING A SCAM

If you are looking for a puppy, be careful & remain vigilant!

Here is how to spot a puppy scam online from AKC:

  • No phone calls. The seller prefers to handle communication by email and not the phone. A reputable breeder will always communicate with you via phone or video chat (if not in person) before selling you a puppy. Fraudulent sellers are oftentimes outside of the U.S. and may be hiding their phone number by only communicating by email.
  • Copycat or stock photos. Photos of the dog or ad text can be found on multiple websites. Search for the text or reverse image search the photos on Google to find out if they were copied.
  • Sketchy payment. The seller asks for wiring of money or payment by gift cards. Be aware that if you choose a non-secure method of payment, it is highly unlikely that you will get your money back. Avoid paying a stranger using apps such as Venmo, as it is harder to get your money back if you don’t get what you paid for.
  • Price is too good to be true. Research the prices for the breed you are considering. Purebred dogs sold at deeply discounted prices are typically frauds. If the seller says they register their dogs with a specific organization, you can call the organization to confirm.
