DAFFODIL DAY!

COME CELEBRATE SPRING!

SUNDAY, APRIL 16, 11 AM - 3 PM

Daffodil Day is a decades-old tradition in Summit when visitors to the Arboretum have an opportunity to enjoy one of the largest daffodil collections in New Jersey – over 50,000 bulbs in bloom in the Arboretum's glacially carved Daffodil Bowl!


The day’s activities include spring-themed games and crafts, a story trail, music, entertainment, food, market vendors, our current art exhibit, and of course, the Green Goats will be here!  Click here to register.

Square Foot Gardening 101: Grow Your Own Groceries

Learn a simple and efficient method of gardening that will have you growing all the fresh vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers you want, with less effort and the most efficient use of space and time. 

Full Moon Hike

Enjoy a relaxing moonlit stroll through the woodland trails and take in the beauty and peace of the Arboretum at night as we learn about this month’s full moon.

Forest Bathing

Saturday, April 8 and Sundays, May 14 and June 11, 9:30 am - 12 pm

Spending time in nature is good for your mind, body, and spirit. Join Forest Bathing Guide Rich Collins on this slow meditative nature walk, immersing yourself in the Arboretum's surroundings while utilizing all of your senses.

Dogwoods and Hazelnuts: Going Nuts Breeding Trees

Dr. Molnar will talk about the more than 50-year history of the woody ornamental breeding program at Rutgers University, with a special focus on dogwoods.

Reeves-Reed Arboretum is excited to welcome back Grammy-nominated artist Cyrille Aimée with pianist Mathis Picard! The duo promises a “sneak peek” of their upcoming new album and a dazzling performance highlighting Aimée's intoxicating charm, storytelling, and improvisation. 

Sound Healing: Crystal Singing Bowls

Nature-themed stories, hikes, games, experiments, and one-of-a-kind art projects are all part of the fun in this after-school drop-off program.

Discovery Weekends is Back! (families with children ages 3+)

Saturdays & Sundays, 9 am - 3 pm; Now through May 21

Drop by the Stackhouse Education Center for this self-guided program. Grab an interactive activity guide and magnifying glass, and head out to see what wonders big and small await on the grounds of the Arboretum. 

Education Center Browsing Library is Open!

Tuesday - Friday, 10 am - 2 pm; Saturday and Sunday 9 am - 3 pm

Join us after your hike to browse our books, color, or work on a puzzle. The library is open during the above-listed hours except during a program or private event.

VOLUNTEER

Helping Hands Needed for Daffodil Day! (ages 14+, 12-13 w/adult)

Sunday, April 16; Shifts: 10:30 am -1 pm, 1- 3:30 pm, and 10:30 am - 3:30 pm

Assist with demonstrations, crafts, and activities at this fun outdoor festival!


Become a Garden Docent!

Take our Prospective Garden Docent Tour (adults)

Saturday, April 15, 10:30 - 11:30 am or Monday, April 17, 1:30 - 2:30 pm

Learn about our Garden Docent program by attending a free introductory garden tour. No experience is necessary and training will be provided. 


Summer Camp Jr. Counselors (ages 14+)

June 12 - August 25, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 1:30 pm

Ideal candidates are personable, energetic, reliable, and have an appreciation of nature and experience with children. Must be available for a minimum of 4 weeks during the summer camp weeks. (There is no camp the weeks of 6/26 and 7/3.)



Woodland Restoration (ages 18+)

Fridays, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Help restore existing trails, plant native trees, remove invasives, and more! 


Ground Force (ages 14+, 12-13 w/an adult)

Thursdays and Saturdays, 1:30 - 3:30 pm

Join our staff outdoors to maintain and enhance the beauty of our grounds.

NEW! Development Associate (part-time paid position)
