Library Closure
As most of you are aware, the Roanoke Higher Education Center building, including the library, is closed due to precautions surrounding COVID-19.At this point in time there is no definite date set for re-opening.

Off-Campus Access to RHEC Library Resources

Perpetual off-campus access to
O'Reilly for Higher Education
is available for individuals with an academic e-mail account (ending in .edu). This platform includes a collection of over 40,000 e-book
titles, covering topics such as IT networking, project management, graphic design, business strategy, and more.
If you've previously created your own personal accounts with the following platforms while connected to the RHEC network, you will have off-campus access once you login.
- EBSCO - All EBSCO databases subscribed to by our library
- Films on Demand - Comprehensive streaming video collection comprising thousands of full length educational videos and clips covering a broad range of topics. Films include documentaries, independent films, news reels, archival footage, lectures, and special television features
- NoodleTools - Versatile online research management platform.
- Social Explorer - a demographic research tool that enables the creation of customizable, interactive maps.
- SpringerLink- a full-text journal and e-book database covering thousands of scholarly titles in the fields of computer science, life sciences, medicine and public health, engineering, physics, psychology and more.

Temporarily Free Resources From Publishers

The following platforms and publishers are offering temporary free access to their resources in response to COVID-19.
Project Muse
- Nearly 80 participating scholarly publishers are offering free access to their e-books and journals on Project Muse through June 30. To view free and open access material, after completing a search click the "Only content I have access to" check box.
Annual Reviews
- Journal access is freely available to all, through April 30. Subjects covered include the biological, medical, physical, and social sciences.
Berghahn Journals
- 38 scholarly journals in the social sciences and humanities are freely available through June 30.
University of California Press
- 46 journal titles in the subject areas of history, literature, film, culinary arts, and sociology are freely available through June 30.

Remote Services Available from RHEC Library
RHEC Library staff is still working remotely, and we're here to help! Patrons may continue to submit
research assistance requests
. If you're working on a research paper or project and need help finding resources that fit your topic, let us know!
We are also still fulfilling
interlibrary loan requests
for electronic resources. This includes journal articles, e-book chapters, dissertations, theses, and more. Physical book lending will resume as soon as we re-open.
