Management Review
April 2018
With Spring now upon us, we entered into the Easter and Passover seasons. It is a time for joy and this year, we had some really enjoyable weather. Unfortunately, summer is coming and in Houston, that seems like it lasts forever.
The Volunteers ran 204 Missions during March. With three months down, 65 Volunteers have run 627 Missions. Our target for the year should be about 2,500, a bit of an increase over last year.
And now for the leaders:
Top 10 Volunteers – 2018
  1. Sandra Begalke 91
  2. Charles Whitworth 79
  3. Dick Stabell 45
  4. David LaFargue 41
  5. Tony LaRosa 38
  6. Laurie Galland 21
  7. Bo Hunter 21
  8. Charles Gibson 20
  9. Paulette Blackburn 18
  10. Bob Joyce 15
February brought us three new volunteers: Roger Drisgill (Texas City), Allen Kremer (Pearland) & Alicia Imerito (Westchase) joined our organization. Welcome aboard Volunteers! We are proud to add you to a roster of very special folks.
Sometime during 2017, Angel Flight dissolved their “Ground Crew”, a group that provided ground transportation for their air mission patients. Many of those patients are now seeking support from us & it is taxing our ability to keep up. Consequently, we have had an increase in “Unfulfilled Missions”. We simply do not have enough volunteers to handle all the requests we have for our services. This has been a topic for discussion at every Board of Directors meeting but thus far, we do not have any easy solutions. We continue to reach out for more volunteers.
To every volunteer, “Thank You” for being part of this wonderful organization and making it the success that it is. 2018 should be another good year.

Calling Mentors

We are honored to have a number of new volunteers thus far this year, and we look forward to many others joining us as Houston Ground Angels. So we are organizing a group of seasoned volunteers that we could connect our new volunteers to, and possibly go on a Mission with, to see how everything works. If you would be interested in mentoring a new volunteers, or inviting a new volunteer to ride along on of your missions, please let me know.

Thank you for considering this.

Our Website

Houston Ground Angels' website has a lot of great information on it, so if you have not visited it for a while, please do. For example, there is a Check-List for volunteers to review or use prior to a mission under Volunteer, forms and documents and see who our Board Members are under About Us , photos of our gatherings and an older video under News and Events, and so much more. So if you have not explored all our website offers, please take a moment and click here.

Thank you to all of our volunteers for all you do for our patients!
Have a wonderful April and hope to see you soon at our next gathering that will be announced in next month's newsletter!
