Cooking Your Way to Good Health with Deanna

We introduced Deanna last month in our new regular segment focused on healthy and seasonal recipes. Deanna, a nurse practitioner with a degree in nutrition, wants to help you enjoy delicious and nutritious meals that are easy to prepare. This month, she prepared Yellow Split Pea Soup, which is full of protein, fiber, antioxidants, complex carbohydrates, and is also good for your gut microbiome. Foraging Fellowship: Eating and Nurturing the Local Landscape

Join us for this month's edition of our speaker series with a virtual presentation by Gabrielle Cerberville, (aka @chaoticforager or "The Internet's Mushroom Auntie"), on Tuesday, April 18, at 6:30pm. Gabrielle will discuss the many ways that foraging can improve and enrich communities. By partnering with the land and one another, we can infuse our shared green spaces with added value, provide ourselves and local wildlife with an abundance of nutritious, free food, and experience a deeper connection to nature.

We Need Your Help to Stop Factory Farming in Michigan

VegMichigan has joined Michiganders for a Just Farming System. The goal of this coalition is to bring together a large number of organizations and individuals to oppose factory farming in Michigan. The coalition just launched, so please sign up to show your support. In addition, join us on Monday, April 10, at 7pm for our virtual coalition meeting to learn more. There is a recently proposed factory farm in the Sister Lakes area of Michigan and we need to stand with the local community in opposing its construction.
