This month, we’re diving into everything Earth Day! From our annual river cleanup to advocacy opportunities, we’re sharing ways you can take action for the Spokane River and beyond. Stay tuned for events, volunteer opportunities, and tips on how to make a difference for our watershed. Let’s celebrate and protect the planet together! 

Join our Annual Earth Day River Clean Up!

Join our annual family-friendly Earth Day River Cleanup! Help keep the Spokane River clean while enjoying the outdoors, getting some exercise, and meeting fellow river stewards. This is our biggest cleanup event of the year, with over 200 volunteers and collecting thousands of ponds of trash from the along the river and creek. You don't want to miss it!


📅 Date: Saturday, April 19, 2025

🕙 Time: starting at 10 AM

📍 Location: High Bridge Park & People’s Park (212 S A St, Spokane, WA)


All cleanup supplies provided—just bring your energy and enthusiasm!


After the cleanup, stick around to visit partner booth, grab a coffee from the PNW EspressGo coffee stand, and learn more about protecting our watershed.

Help Us Kick Off the River Cleanup! 

We are looking for 4-5 volunteers to check people in at the start of the cleanup and 6 volunteers to help direct and manage parking at the event.


We will need volunteers for these stations from 9:15 to 10:45 although if you have the time we would love to have you stay and celebrate Earth Day with us.

  • Free Public Meeting: PFAS in the Spokane River - April 14. Hosted by West Plains Water Coalition. Learn more here.
  • Friends of the Centennial Trail: Unveil the Trail Cleanup – April 18-22. Volunteers help clean each mile of the Centennial Trail.
  • Spokane River Forum Conference: "Our Community, Our River" – April 22-23 @ The Centennial Hotel. A key event focused on water, policy, and community collaboration. Learn more and register.
