Doing swim specific plyometrics can dramatically improve your starts and turns. Join SURGE Strength's Chris Ritter as he walks through dryland exercises to correctly perform our favorite jumps and how to make them more swim specific for results that transfer to the pool!
ADM Focus of the Month: Confidence
USA Swimming's American Development Model (ADM) is a great tool coaches can reference to create:
  • Long-term athlete development plans
  • Design practice group structure
  • Evaluate overall development and progress of your swimmers

Within the six levels of ADM, there are four critical athlete-centered outcomes: Competence, Character, Confidence and Connection.

Over the next four months, we will focus on understanding these four outcomes to increase our knowledge on ADM. This month we will focus on Confidence.

Character centers around self- belief, resilience, mental toughness and positive self-worth.
Revised List of Approved CPR/AED and STSC In-Water Skills Checklist Providers

USA Swimming has published an updated list of CPR/AED and Safety Training for Swim Coaches In-Water Skills Checklist approved providers. These updates are the result of a six-month review conducted by USA Swimming’s Operational Risk Committee, in consultation with the American Red Cross, the purpose of which is to ensure the safety of USA Swimming member athletes and provide for consistency amongst curriculums.
In order to be an approved provider, the certifying organization must issue either American Red Cross or American Heart Association certificates or be deemed equivalent by either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Organizations which do not provide such certificates or are not deemed to be equivalent will no longer be approved providers for the purpose of USA Swimming safety training requirements. Online-only curriculums will no longer be approved.
These changes are effective immediately. Please contact with any questions.

If you have questions about any of your certifications, please e-mail Karen Alexander.
USA Swimming's Women's Leadership opportunities are designed for every level coach to grow both personally and professionally. The structure of the workshop or conference changes from event to event, but is sure to leave you feeling recharged in your life and career.

This year's program will be a three part virtual series with an in-person opportunity at the end of the year. Each workshop will focus on a different topic area (technique, leadership and wellness) with the in-person event tying the three together. Participation in all sessions is encouraged, but not required. However, to attend the in-person event participants must attend all three virtual workshops.

South Carolina Swimming's Disability Committee has created a mission statement that we hope captures the spirit of our commitment to athletes in our LSC.

Disability Committee Mission:  Empowering athletes of all abilities to compete and excel in the sport of swimming, promote access and inclusion in activities at all levels and encourage South Carolina Swimming athletes, coaches, officials and parents to become involved in building a community with equal opportunities for everyone.

These swimmers will participate alongside our Age Group Zone Team at the Southern Zone Championships. As their events are run and scored separately during the meet, this presents a great opportunity for our disability swimmers to achieve recognition for their accomplishments.
