STAY IN THE KNOW
"We are all concerned for ourselves and our families, and I am no exception to that concern. I know you have all been inundated with information. I won’t repeat what you've already heard, but I will remind you that as time goes on it is easy to let your guard down and return to old habits. Please remind yourself and the ones you love that continued diligence in this battle is still needed to protect ourselves and our community."

-Alan Nygaard, City Manager

INCREASED POLICE, FIRE AND EMS CALLS, AND THE RESOURCES THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO YOU:
With more people staying home, the Lewiston Police Department (LPD) and Lewiston Fire Department (LFD) are seeing an increase in calls compared to this time last year:

Calls for LPD:
  • juvenile-related problems (47% increase)
  • domestic violence (33% increase)

Calls for LFD:
  • house fires (15% increase)
  • people who have fallen and need assistance (10% increase)

We understand that staying home longer than normal may increase anxiety, stress, etc., so we've put together a list of ways to stay busy, as well as a number of different resources to help you through a tough situation.
THESE UNSUNG HEROES ARE ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU
In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, we would like to say THANK YOU to our hardworking dispatchers and other public safety telecommunicators who serve as a vital link between our community and local fire, medical, and law enforcement agencies.
