CAST Blast RSVP!

Mark your calendars for an unforgettable evening at CAST Blast on May 29th, hosted at The Lake Cable Clubhouse! This event promises to be a celebration like no other, where students and adults alike will join forces to commemorate this year's accomplishments and shine a spotlight on our incredible community partners. From recognizing the hard work and dedication of our members to showcasing the impactful collaborations we've fostered, CAST Blast is an opportunity to come together and revel in the spirit of unity and achievement.

In the spirit of community service and camaraderie, let's take a moment to reflect on some recent highlights. Our recent serve day at The Akron Canton Regional Foodbank brought together over 50 volunteers spanning ages 8 to 80, demonstrating the power of collective action in making a difference. Adding to the sweetness of the month, VASCO delighted attendees with an ice cream truck, spreading joy and fostering connections within our community.

Additionally, we rejoice in the beautiful moment of Zariyah's baptism on Easter, where her heartfelt message about the transformative power of deepening her relationship with Jesus, through serving others, impacted everyone in attendance.

As we look ahead, let's continue this spirit of generosity by opening our doors to host Gabe, the Ripple FX summer intern, and furthering our commitment to making a positive impact together.

With gratitude,

Sonja White

Host a RippleFX Intern for the Summer!

Our friends at RippleFX are excited to have another full summer ahead of them! This summer they have 7 camps on the docket and 3 amazing summer interns to help make those camps possible.

This summer we will see God move in big ways as the RippleFX team continues to host experiences that allow students to meet Jesus.

Speaking of hosting...RippleFX is prayerfully looking for one more host family for their summer intern, Gabe.

Gabe is from the Columbus area and is currently a junior studying Ministry at Malone University. Gabe has been a faithful and reliable volunteer with RippleFX for the past year, making it a "no brainer" to add him to their summer team! Gabe is a respectful, thoughtful, Jesus loving young man who enjoys the outdoors, plays guitar, loves sports and laughs easily.

What does hosting look like?

  • Move in weekend is May 18-19 as the summer internship begins May 20th.
  • August 3rd--anticipated move out date.

  • Hosting consists of a private room to sleep in, a bathroom to access, and a shelf in a refrigerator where interns can put the food that they purchase.
  • Interns should have in/out access via a garage code/house keys.
  • RippleFX encourages the occasional dinner where interns and host families can connect. Interns will be gone on trips for 6 weeks out of the summer. These off weeks work perfectly as a time to reconnect over a meal. This inclusion in family meal times help interns to relax and feel at home.
  • Host families can (and should) encourage interns help with small household chores--helping to cook the family dinner, letting the pets outside, cutting the grass while you’re away for a weekend.
  • Host families should feel comfortable with sharing household rules and expectations.

Why host families?

RippleFX prefers host families over dormitory style living accommodations for their interns because it allows for a natural and informal form of discipleship to occur between their interns and host families. Host families allow summer interns to feel at home while working…creating healthy accountability and support from loving families.

Although this was the last "No School-Serve Day" of the 2023/24 school year, we cannot wait to continue on this fun new tradition next school year!

No School Serve Day at The Akron Canton Regional Food Bank

April has been such an amazing month for CAST! We kicked off the month with a great intergenerational serve day at the food bank. A group of 50 + friends joined together to make a hands on difference in their own community! In two hours, this phenomenal crew processed enough food to create 3,741 meals for our neighbors in need!

Amazing things happen when friends link arms to Care and Serve Together.

To make this day even sweeter, everyone was treated to an ice cream cone..or two from the Pav's Creamery Ice Cream Truck!

A HUGE thanks goes out to VASCO for sponsoring a sweet treat (rather than a trick) for everyone this

April Fools.
