We held the first meeting of the new Board on April 11th. Continuing Board members met with newly elected and acclaimed Board members, and we filled several positions by appointment. I am happy that every Board position is now filled. The name of each director with his or her role is shown below.
Our Annual General Meeting for this year was held on March 30th and was attended by 46 members out of a total of 237 members.
On behalf of the Board I thank Marcia McKay and Rick Hine for serving on last year's Board. I also thank Colin McKay and Karen Angle for their work on the Front Desk and their many other successfully completed tasks.
The Board has decided to move the library and puzzles out of the common area and into Jessie's Room. The Fit For Health Program or Chair Exercise Program run by the Community Centre is prepared to use the common area when it is ready.
The Board has arranged to have a printed copy of this newsletter and future ones mailed to 38 members who do not have an email address. Printed copies will still be available at the front desk.
I am pleased to report that Bingo remains a main activity in the Dining Room. Bingo games are held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30 to 3:00. We hold a 50/50 draw each bingo day. The bingo game fees are paid out as prizes to the daily winners and the proceeds from the 50/50 draw are used for some of the regular expenses at the Centre.
