April 2026

Dear Friends,

2026 is a year of both reflection and celebration as we mark the past 25 years of Save One Life. This milestone offers us a meaningful opportunity to look back on the lives touched, the progress made, and the community that has grown stronger together over the years.

Recently, I had the privilege of attending the World Federation of Hemophilia World Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where we also hosted a special 25th Anniversary Celebration with more than 75 attendees. I am thrilled to share that eleven of the fourteen countries we partner with were represented. We had over 20 program partner organizations in attendance. These program partners are the true heroes—working tirelessly to support individuals who often lack access to treatment and live in impoverished circumstances.

One of the most powerful moments for me was meeting several children we have sponsored over the years—now grown into young men. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, their lives have been transformed. Hearing them share how Save One Life has impacted their journeys, I was deeply moved and humbled that our organization has had such a meaningful role in their lives.

We are one global bleeding disorder family, and supporting one another truly makes a life-changing difference. During our time together, we laughed and cried—but above all, we stood united: resilient, steadfast, and determined to reach even more people in need.

As we celebrate this 25-year milestone, I invite you to join us in making an impact for the next 25 years. There are many ways to help—sponsor a child, donate unneeded medication, participate in our Wheels for the World fundraiser, or simply make a donation. Every step matters, and every action helps us continue this vital work.

I would also like to extend special thanks to our 25th Anniversary Celebration sponsors—Sanofi, Bayer, and Takeda—and to the World Federation of Hemophilia for their kindness in allowing us to host our celebration during the WFH World Congress.

Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us continue to make a lasting impact.

Kind regards,

Cindy

Women's Entrepreneurship Training Program in Uganda

Save One Life was proud to support a four-day Entrepreneurship Training Programme delivered by Haemophilia Foundation Uganda in March 2026 for 38 single mothers in Uganda. The program was created to address the financial challenges many caregivers face while supporting children with hemophilia, often while serving as the primary providers for their families.

Over four days, participants took part in a series of hands-on sessions covering business basics such as identifying opportunities in their communities, developing business ideas, creating plans, and managing finances. The training emphasized practical learning, collaboration, and peer support to ensure the content was accessible and relevant.

The outcomes were significant. Twenty-one participants improved existing businesses, 17 were introduced to entrepreneurship for the first time, 10 committed to starting new ventures, and 37 completed business plans. Beyond these results, many women also reported leaving the program with renewed confidence, stronger direction, and a clearer sense of possibility for improving their family’s financial stability.

We are grateful to Agnes Kisakye for sharing this report and for her continued leadership in creating opportunities like this.

Please consider sponsoring one of the many children available for sponsorship, like Lubowa from Uganda.

Lubowa is a 13 year old boy with severe hemophilia A. He is in 5th grade and his favorite subject is English and history. In his free time, Lubowa loves to play with friends.

Give Lubowa the gift of sponsorship. The funds will be used for basic necessities, medical treatment and education.

In this episode of Where Hope Begins: The Save One Life Podcast, host Kai Sorensen sits down with longtime community members Vaughn Ripley, Doug Mildram, and Ujjwal Bhattarai to talk about Wheels for the World 2026, Save One Life’s largest and most inclusive virtual ride yet.

They share what brought them to this community and what keeps them coming back each year, from personal connections to meaningful moments on the ride. They also reflect on the physical and emotional challenges of long-distance cycling, the sense of community it creates, and why fundraising matters just as much as the miles, because it helps expand access to lifesaving care for children around the world.

Save One Life had a wonderful time at the 2026 HFA Symposium in New Orleans, connecting with partners, advocates, and members of the bleeding disorders community. We are especially grateful to ambassador Rich Williams and Vaughn Ripley for their support in launching Wheels for the World and for helping amplify our mission to improve the lives of our global bleeding disorders family.

In addition, our team also attended regional meetings in April, including the Coalition for Hemophilia B Symposium in Las Vegas and the Great Plains Hemophilia Regional Meeting in San Antonio. These gatherings provided valuable opportunities to engage with community members and strengthen connections across the region as we continue advancing our shared mission.

Ambassador Spotlight: Farah Pavri's Journey from Sibling to Advocate

Every member of the bleeding disorders community has a story, and Farah Pavri’s is one that highlights the powerful role siblings play in shaping care, compassion, and connection. Over time, she transformed what once felt like being “just a sibling” into a deep sense of purpose. Today, Farah is using her voice to support others, encourage young people in the community, and give back in meaningful ways, including being a Save One Life Ambassador!

April Happenings in Europe

This month, Save One Life was featured across several European publications and platforms. The Dutch hemophilia member magazine highlighted the documentary “Mountains We Carry, Mountains We Climb,” while a Swiss member magazine shared stories showcasing Save One Life’s impact and success.

An abstract on AI and hemophilia, authored by Gianluca Sottilotta, Cindy Komar, and Marelle Hart was also published in the official journal of the World Federation of Hemophilia. The work was additionally presented by Cindy Komar at the WFH World Congress in Malaysia, further sharing perspectives on innovation in hemophilia care.

Registration for Wheels for the World 2026 is now open! This inclusive, virtual fundraiser invites participants of all abilities to get involved and turn miles into impact for people living with bleeding disorders around the world. We’re already off to a strong start and are grateful to everyone who has signed up and begun logging miles. Join the momentum by creating a team, inviting friends, and connecting with fellow participants in our Facebook group and our club on Strava.

On World Hemophilia Day, we also honored a powerful story from within the community with the premiere of Wheels for the World: A Journey of Inspiration, Hope, and Resilience. The film follows Vaughn Ripley as he cycles 756 miles from Maine to West Virginia to raise awareness for those still lacking access to lifesaving treatment. His journey is a reminder of why this work matters and what’s possible when our community comes together. Thank you to Novo Nordisk for helping us bring this story to life.

Save One Life is excited to welcome Maria Perez to our board of directors. Maria is a registered nurse with more than 12 years of experience across the rare disease community, along with a background in social work focused on crisis management and family support. She is deeply committed to empowering and advocating for English and Spanish speaking patients, families, and communities. She joins the board with a strong passion for patient-centered care and community support. We’re thrilled to have her perspective and expertise on our board!

Looking back on World Hemophilia Day, we were reminded that while hemophilia is treatable, access to care is not equal. In many parts of the world, more than 75% of people living with bleeding disorders still receive little or no treatment—turning a manageable condition into a life-threatening one. Save One Life works to close that gap by providing direct financial assistance, helping families access transportation, basic needs, and lifesaving care.

Because of your support, we’re helping remove barriers to survival. Each donation helps a child reach treatment, stay in school, and build a future beyond their diagnosis—creating a ripple effect of stronger families and healthier communities.
