Greetings Eagles!

STAAR testing is right around the corner. That means that millions of scholars across Texas are buckling down to get ready for a state-mandated exam that’s designed to measure college and career readiness, based on a scholar’s mastery of skills in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. The awareness of an upcoming “big” test has a varied effect on scholars. Some relish the opportunity to show off how much they’ve learned, some scholars become quite worried, and some are unfazed one way or another. Scholars who fall into the worried category might exhibit “testing anxiety” that can lead to behavior issues and struggles with test performance, even when the scholar is adequately prepared. Try talking to your scholars and encouraging them to view the test in a positive light versus a negative one. Make sure your scholars get plenty of rest, and have an adequate breakfast!

National Volunteer Appreciation Month
National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to shine a light on the people and causes that inspire us to serve. I have to send a special shout-out to my amazing Channelview Parent Organization. This year this core group has continued building bridges with our faculty across all grade levels and job titles. They continue to create amazing opportunities for families to be involved and to ensure that parents’/caregivers’ voices are heard. I can’t say thank you enough for all that you do for our school and community. THANK YOU!!!
